CBS-FM Flips to Jack!!

I'm not so quick to blame deregulation. Mainly because I've always felt the government is the last institution that should be regulating anything simply because they cannot manage their own affairs. I blame the listener partly because we have not demanded quality radio. Look at what stations are always up in the ratings. Not stations that try to do something different, but cookie cutter stations (only exception I can think of is WNAK, going by what others say since I can't get this station). If we stop listening to these stations, the companies will start to lose revenue and will change. But we don't.

Re: Jack formats, I look forward to trying it if it ever comes here simply because I love music variety. I hate formatted stations that play one kind of music and nothing else (though they have their place for those who do). I also hate the so-called playlist. Too many stations rely too heavily on it. Playlists are fine as a core group of songs to play, but there's nothing wrong with throwing some additional songs in there also. Playlists do not have to be all inclusive. Think outside the box. Not every station should be like Jack on the other hand. I do not wish to see the only oldies station in town go to Jack. I do not listen to oldies, but there should be something for everyone. Jack belongs on either a station that duplicates another format (i.e. JR or EZ) or even a simulcast (take 95.7 which is largely duplicated in coverage to 97.1 anyway). Hey, I'd think it would be great on KRZ, LOL!

Dear Jim,

We appreciate your opinion. Through the years, your opinion has always mattered a great deal to us and it still does.
I know that change is sometimes hard. Especially when your favorite radio station changes so unexpectedly and without forewarning. The competitive climate of radio and business in New York did not allow us the luxury to give any kind of advance notice. And for that, we’re apologize to you.
You should know however, that much of the press that has run lately has not been completely accurate. CBS-FM still lives! Instead of being at 101.1 on FM, the heritage CBS-FM you know and love now lives online at wcbsfm.com. To listen go to the web site wcbsfm.com and you will hear the Greatest Hits of All Time streamed with all the great music and fun you have come to expect over the past three decades on your radio.

You should also know that most of the CBS-FM personalities you’ve listened to and loved are still employees of the radio station. It’s our sincere hope that they will continue to deliver the Greatest Hits of All Time streaming live on wcbsfm.com. Our goal is to start adding the CBS-FM personalities into the streaming mix soon! We will also continue to incorporate many the features and special theme weekends you have come to expect as well from this great station.

We hope that since you’ve been a wonderful listener and supporter of CBS-FM, that you will give JACK-FM a try too. Who knows? You just might enjoy it! If not, you have an option with www.wcbsfm.com

Thank you for your long-time devotion, and know that CBS-FM moves into the future and to an even bigger audience by going worldwide. The Greatest Hits of all Time still lives on here at wcbsfm.com!

Sincerely,

Chad Brown
Vice President / General Manager

What a load of corporate PR b.s.

The station shifted format on a moment's notice. That's not accurate?

Great. Next time I'm near NYC in my car, I'll be sure to click on it.

Uh-huh. They're all going to stick around, local and live, talking into an internet mic. The Cuz has already been let go, luckily to be picked up by satellite.
______________

Re: Cousin Brucie is Raging Mad!!

At least he got a gig on one of the birds. Not quite the same, but he can still do the kind of show he does best.
______________
