CBS FM RATINGS ARE DOWN FOR FALL..THIS STATION IS BAD!!

Wow! That's a great idea, let's pretend like it was 1989, and CBS-FM was a excellent oldies station. Joe McCoy was a program director at the time, Bill Brown sounded great back then, and so does Harry Harrison, Cousin Brucie, Bobby Jay, Bob Shannon, Ron Lundy, Max Kinkel and Marc Summers. Those were the best jocks when CBS-FM did when it was an oldies tradition. I remember back when I was in my PS-154 years in Brooklyn since I was 10 years old, and CBS-FM was a good station for 50's, 60's and mostly 70's and a few 80's songs. I love the "Doo-Wop Shop" with Don K Reed every Sunday night as well as fill-ins like Steve O'Brien, Pat St. John, Norm N Nite and a few others on CBS-Fm for such a long time.
I missed the "Hall of Fame" shows every weeknights from 7:00 PM until 12:00 AM including the themed weeks like "Monday Night 70's", "Tuesday Night Trivia", "Cousin Brucie's Yesterday & Today Countdown", "Thursday Night 60's" and my favorite themed week was "Friday Night 50's" where they played a lot of 50's songs like the Moonglows, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole, Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, the Cleftones, the Four Lads, and many others. Bobby Jay was the host for every "Hall of Fame" shows. On weekends, Bobby Jay hoested the "Top 20 Countdown" shows from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday afternoons on CBS-FM. On Sunday nights, Don K Reed hosted the "Doo-Wop Shop" where they played a lot of doo-wop, group harmony vocal sounds from the 50's and early 60's. That show was from 7:00 PM until 12:00 PM. Cousin Brucie was on Saturday nights on CBS-FM for the "Saturday Night Dance Party" and it was good.
I missed the good old days of CBS-FM.
I was 10 years old when CBS-FM was still an oldies station forever. But I'm not really sure if oldies should return or not. WABC does with Mark Simone on the Saturday Night Oldies Show, and so does WMTR in Morristown, NJ. They got oldies too.Any thoughts.

If you mean RIGHT before Jack, no way. Their playlist at that point was very bland and narrow, and even the presentation had gone downhill. CBS-FM may not be what it was in the 90s, but it has a deeper playlist and more punch than it did in 2005. Even five months in, the station sounds reinvigorated and is really fun to listen to again. But I guess an 80s song every half hour is too much for some oldies fanatics to swallow.
at least CBS will admit a mistake and try to fix it. Would CC or Cox? We can't have Ron Lundy and the legendary jocks back. As shocking as it seems to "boomers"--------jocks aged and the guys I hear now could be my grandkids. "SOB" If I could have my way, WMCA would still be Joe O'Brien, Harry Harrison, Jack Spector, Dandy Dan, BMR, and Dean Anthony and I'd be 20 and georgeous!
Being 42 I thought the real oldies station that catered to my era was JACK. Particularly the last month before the flip.
Instead of trying to be a station that caters to every demographic they should make a decision and stick with it. Either go back to a JACK type rock station like just before the flip (my preference) or back to the CBS-FM fans focusing on 50s-60s rock/pop. (and drop all 70s and 80s).

I can see why the boost in 18-34. Believe it or not, people under the age of 40 like the music on CBS-FM too, especially as late gen X / gen y suburban "kids" grow out of hip hop and "alternative", whatever that means anymore (I say this very sarcastically - I was a college radio music director for 3 years and watched the massive subdivision of genres happen). It's amazing to see just how many people in my gen are affected by the format switch, and i'm 25. Lets face it - a hit is a hit and oldies / greatest hits / whatever you want to call them might just still be cool.

BTW, I noticed you have mentioned BMR a few times. He was only on WMCA for a year or two and I believe Mr Reid achieved more stardom in LA.
2nd BTW I used to write down WMCA's weekly survey every week... I seem to recall it coming out every Wednesday and Dandy Dan counted down the Top 30. Yeah those were the days....

I'm by means going to tune into it like I would occasionally with Jack when Hot, Mix, (K-Rock on Weekends), Kiss, or power had nothing on. When I do hear WCBS now, its at the same venues I heard jack - non-national chain fast food places. WCBS sounds like a better fit in that environment.

Thanks. I still am georgeous. I was in New York in 1964 and BMR was on. I was driving from Philly. I wondered if New York City had only one Top 40 ( WABC) when I tuned WMCA by accident. BMR just flipped me out. He was the wildest guy I ever heard and I had heard Dick Biondi plenty of times too. As far as demographics, my gorgeous 31 year daughter is slowly evolving from the Hip Hop and metal of her teen-ages years to more AC leaning stations .

Maybe CBS-FM deserves its own message board on Radio-Info. That way, when we want to read all the "they were better then," "Jack was better," and "waxing reminiscent" posts, we'll know exactly where to go. The argument has no resolution, people. CBS-FM is what it is, and guess what, the ratings say it's working.

Yes B. Mitchell Reid was a fast talker and I dug him a lot more than Bruce Morrow. On second thought I couldn't stand listening to "Cousin" Hairpiece LOL!! I have a few old WABC Silver Dollar Surveys in my garage which clearly shows a 1962 picture of Bruce and his receding hairline. But enough about that, I am sure I'm in the minority on my stance about Brucie.

I want you to know that my favorite DJ was the legendary and now unfortunately Late Hy Lit. Joe Niagra was also one of my faves.
I was driving from Philly, but coming from Pittsburgh. I really grew up with WABC's sister station, KQV. KQV flipped to Top 40 about 2 years before 77. I think ABC was trying it out in Da Burg first. I do remember WIBG and WHAT with the 'geator"
A CBS-FM thread with no thoughts and backlashes from David?? wow that must not have been juice i was drinking...
