CBS-FM Top 1001 Labor Day Weekend Countdown

Brown Eyed Girl being #1 makes sense to me. I worked in Classic Rock radio for 10 years and it was one of the few 60s songs that we played to death. AC plays it. It's a big bar song with 20 and 30 somethings. It even has the "Don't Stop Believin' IT" factor with teens. I can see it being #1.

I find myself stopping to listen to CBS less and less as the '60s selection is slowly shrinking. I'm 21 but a product of boomers and my dad brought me up on '60s music. I would love it if it became illegal to play "Don't Stop Believing" on the radio. ;D

Have you ever tuned in for Turntable Tuesday? Yep, they still have a real turntable in the studio.

I'll believe it when they post video of it in use on their website.

If they play the 12" 70s disco version of "Hooray For Hollywood" sometime, you can believe it as well, because you can't get that one on cassette or CD.

I was happy to hear, "In the Still of the Night" by The Five Satins.

I'm wondering how much of a good thing this is. Have CBS-FM's traditional listeners evaporated, or there are more younger listeners voting boosting the 70s and 80s songs.

Thanks,
Kevin L. Sealy

Kevin - anecdotally I believe that many of the traditional listeners have abandoned WCBS-FM because they do not like the 80s music which is become more prevalent. One friend told me that he listens to Sirius 60s on 6 while another tunes in WMTR. Some listeners may have left since they miss some of the personalities who retired or moved on. I always perceive the WCBS-FM of 2007+ as a compromise. They wanted to get younger listeners, but realized that the dreaded Jack format was a mistake.

I left while Jack but when DT, Bob Shannon came back and they added BBlee, and others, I decided to take a chance. I do like 80's I do perfer more 60's I love sirius 6 cousin B time. I miss our Legends!!! but times have changed. I listen to BBlee the most, he makes radio like it used to be. He is the personlity of Radio today!!! :)
