I must congratulate Brian Thomas and Jeff Mazzei for the innovative programming.

Still, I guess you can't argue with ratings.

Gerryr said:Huh? Do you mean because CBS-FM is improving their numbers by reducing pre-Beatles and increasing 70s & 80s?
590buddy said:What I'm saying is that those folks 55+ still like the oldies, and hello???? THEY SPEND MONEY>>>>>
RADIO TRUTH said:They are throwing a small bone to baby boomers with a few earlier songs but, the bottom line is that this station is a 99.999999999% 1968-1980 music station. People who want a steady diet of 1955-1967 music have no choices on the New York radio dial.
surfdude Holiday weekend listening is VERY low. CBS-FM does this kind of stunt when it will
hurt them least. The average button pusher won't even know it's a special until
BOSSA NOVA BABY comes on and they switch over to Lite or PLJ.
Kudos to CBS-FM for doing this. It does get a small number of oldies radio fans excited,
but it in NO WAY will improve their ratings.
Gerryr said:You don't think CBS-FM is selling 55+, do you?
They're selling 25-54.

590buddy I'm kinda surprised (NOT) that we haven't heard from the crusty David Eduardo, he the almighty who says that oldies are dead because no ad agency will use an oldies station. Same person who ate a huge amount of humble pie when they took jack off. (!!!!!!!!!!) Same person who says there's not enought revenue in the 54+ demo. The reponse to this post speaks volumes about these nay sayers. tested songs?? "safe playlist"??

They're selling 25-54.
No, they're selling the *idea* of 25-54 to cover up for their still 55+ demo. Kind of like the programming equivalent of hair dye and a bad toupee.
Or, they're 25-54 in the same sense that Archie + Edith Bunker were 25-54 in 1971.
andreajesus That's one that I missed...but i've heard MOST of it since like it started Monday morning - AWE-SOME!! Right now, I'm hearing "Hotel California" by the Eagles....
