I'm like everybody else, I didn't see it coming.
I grew up expecting him in The Final Four/Tournament championship whether a lot of people wanted him to be there or not.
He does have longevity, I don't think he will wind up on ESPN because he, no offense, isn't in the same league as Dicky V or Bill Rafferty.
Nowadays people want characters for their sports to entertain, and he just don't fit in the ESPN category.
Besides he has had a long career. I supsect that Dick Enberg is on the way out soon too, so maybe they will do some charity basketball game to broadcast in the near future.
As for Clark Kellog, he's a good fit. He's fun, but serious enough to not make himself more important than the game.
