CBS needs to blow up 1210 AM

The lesson for radio stations I would give is, don't be held hostage on a format that's not working in the ratings, even if its a moneymaker. Don't be like underperformed stations like KABC, WPHT, etc.

So the lesson for a for-profit venture would be don't do what makes money.

Somehow, I don't think that will be a ver popular, nor widely adopted, lesson.

I would be in favor of CBS Sports Radio moving to 1210 AM. It would give the network a big boost, since they won't be on WFAN-AM in NYC. Bottom line, CBS needs to free itself from a failing format, ratings wise. Right wing republican talk needs to go.

A sports format that competes with the OTHER TWO SPORTS STATIONS THEY ALREADY RUN?

Same crap last night; first no CTCAM, so I tuned into WWVA, the signal was kinda bad but listenable, a very good show with David Rubin and John Lear, then around 3AM, WPHT finally put them on and the show was really great, after the break at 3:30AM another informerical show, just when I was waiting for the continuation/conclusion, so I had to go to WWVA again which had an unlistenable signal, so over to my I phone 5, to dial up KVPI 1050 in Ville Platt LA on line, a pea shooter that carries the show but by that time the main topic was over. This is a damn disgrace for this station to constantly pre-emply the show at random. But of course every other fill-in ad they ran, was about those rotton Phillies, over and over, dont forget hear every game on WPHT. Not everyone gives a damn about the Eagles, Phillies or any other sport, I guess I am a weirdo because I hate sports. WOGL HD-4 all Phillies all the time instead of Standards or Lite Rock, what a joke.

There may indeed be a joke. The question is, what is it?

Have you contacted the station about this? Also the schedule gets delayed because 1210 runs all of their paid programming in their entirety instead of shorting a show or joining it in progress because of a game. 1210 sucks and Bloom and Rayfeild should be at fault for the way they are running this station into the ground.

I'm done listening to KYW 1060 and 1210 since they both suck and all I do is complain about the 2 stations and I'm wasting my time doing it. You're right, there are more important things in life.

Right on Julius! We need another talk option like when we had WWDB and Free-FM 94.1.
thanks for agreeing with me. Feel free to call WPHT and CBS radio and tell them that 1210 should drop talk for something else.

contact info if you want to complain to them directly about WPHT.

And those stations aren't around for a reason now.

If either represented a choice that could have been more successfully, more profitably, run, they'd have stuck around a bit longer (not that WWDB's run was short...Free FM on the other hand...).

Doesn't it stand to reason that companies out there with some of the lower-rated stations in town in particular do their research to find out if there is a potential opportunity to do significantly better? No one jumped into the fray before, or after, Merlin. That may say something.

I called all those numbers at CBS and WPHT and told them I think Jul should be the new program director and general manager. They said they were considering it. They told me if I know him that I should tell him to wait by the phone so he doesn't miss a phone call about his ideas.

Nothing else to talk about in Phillly radio other than WPHT?
if Rush is ever gone from WPHT then cbs sports radio might move to 1210
& cbs might sell 610,

I don't even live in the area now, but I'd love to listen to the station that Julius programmed just to witness the train wreck first hand.

If I was running 1210, it would be a news/talk station like WCAU, with a true commitment to its listeners, not the way Bloom and Rayfeild are running it. it would not be a train wreck. Right wing talk doesn't work in a democratic city like Philly. Its a miracle that CBS hasn't made changes to WPHT in recent weeks.
