swhyde1980 said:That would be very ideal and unique for a market of San Diego's size, for Jeff & Jer to own a stake, in a radio station they do a morning show at (job security!). I would be guessing 103.7, if CBS sold it to Alpha (I can't see them at KYXY...No way!).

I wouldn't know, but ego has nothing to do with how little space is actually needed to put a signal on the air. The KYXY buildiing is pretty cramped, but for four hours a day you could shoe horn J&J in there with some creative engineering.

I worked in that building and know well it is a very tight fit: but with few exceptions, radio morning shows had gotten to the point where they felt entitled to something better than what mere non-morning DJ's had (maybe it's something in the water at the Morning Show Boot Camp). Every third rate jock thought they deserved a producer, a helper boy, an intern and two sidekicks, plus a studio that would give each of them their own mike, plus enough mikes to accommodate 50 Cent and his whole posse when they just happened to drop in.
Of course the Decline and Fall of the radio bidness has made many jocks happy to find a mike just for them but there have to be a few prima donnas who haven't had the chance to be humbled by the new realties.

Bob_Hudson said:True - during my last 18 months or so with The Planet morning show, I worked from my home in Oceanside and actually had a much better setup than when I worked at the studios in Kearny Mesa.

Lupita said:Right as usual Bob. I was talking to a former Z-90 jock from the Victor Diaz era. He wound up in Texas and I was appalled to hear that he does the morning show, plus all of the extra prep and production, remotes etc., etc., $9.00/hr! What a sad sate of affairs. Salud!
