CBS Sports Radio Weekends - GREAT If You Like Listening To Amy Lawrence

As long as Kincade doesn't say "CBS Sports Radio" every 40 seconds like he did (or was forced to do) at ESPN, he might be listenable.

"So I think the Falcons........you're listening to the John Kincade Show on ESPN Radio......will beat New Orleans tomorrow. We'll take your calls and emails, on ESPN Radio, next. This is John Kincade and you're listening to the John Kincade Show...on ESPN Radio."

No wonder ESPN Radio sounds so much better these days. Now if they'd send Colin Cowherd packing as well... ;D

Every show I hear on ESPN, especially in the middle of an interview, involves a reset every twenty seconds.
Does The Mothership want to keep non-ESPN stations from ripping off their interviews that bad?

That would be my guess. but does the mothership not realize that you could if you wanted to spend time to edit out the espn bombs in every interview

I don't have a problem with Amy. I think most people don't like her because she's a woman.

There is nothing sexist going on here. Amy Lawrence is bad because her voice is annoying, her delivery is cliche-ridden (almost a female Cowherd), and she is frequently fact-challenged.

ESPN and the other networks have plenty of women who are very good. Amy Lawrence is not one of them.

I'd like to see Amy Lawrence over Scott Ferrall he is the worst I mean the worst on cbs sports radio his voice is annoying wish he stayed with Siriusxm (I like Amy Lawrence because she talks NASCAR).

Is he still doing that "Porky Pig on crack" voice? That was annoying 15 years ago.

Shrewd move to hire Amy Lawrence. She knows baseball and NASCAR, WSCR 670 in CHI is carrying her overnight show, only ::) CBS sports radio show they carry live

670 has a local weeknight overnight show?

She is actually a lot better now that she is away from ESPN. Amazing how many radio & TV personnel become so much more tolerable when they get away from BSPN and are not forced to cover Tim Tebow and LeBron James 24/7.

Amy falls into a rather small group of broadcasters that have mastered the trifecta of terrible; 1) bad, puking voice wherein everything sounds happy and fluffy. 2) Someone in this thread used the term "fact challenged" and I would agree completely, when she talks baseball it is quite cringe worthy---not to mention her insisting upon discussing NASCAR. 3) The inability to speak conversationally. Talk TO the listener not AT the listener, speak in a way that people speak in real life. If there is one thing that will drive me to turn a show off at light speed it is a broadcaster that cannot just use their real voice and talk to us like a human being.

As for the 10,000 pound elephant in the room, women don't fair well in sports talk radio whether you like it or not. Sports-talk is a very heavily male dominated market and as much as some individuals may wish to place their head in the sand, the research confirms that men do not like female sports-talk hosts. This is usually the part where someone will cite one or two hosts that have had success such as the "Fabulous Sports Babe", but ultimately how did that work out? Any female broadcaster with a reasonable IQ and talent would much rather do news-talk/political-talk than waste their time trying to win over the alpha-male sports radio audience.

Even if Amy were decent---which she is light years away from being---it is unlikely she would be widely accepted in that market... that's just reality.
