Cumulus is out of money for purchases. They're talking about a swap with CBS in Atlanta.

With WFAN on the AM is going to launch CBS Sports Radio this Wednesday, is WFAN-AM is planning to drop its simulcast and begin stunting at midnight 1/1/13 where they announce to make the switch to WFAN-FM on 101.9 just like ESPN did back in September where they made the switch to 98.7 only prior to the launch of ESPN Deportes on 1050 AM?

103.9 is supposed to move to the Bronx on the WFUV/WVIP tower.....Hopefully when they make the move it will kill off the 103.9 pirate in the Newark area which kills WFAS-FM's signal south of Paramus.

Yes. CBS Sports Radio is now carried on WCBS FM 101.1 HD3. The simulcast of WCBS 880 AM continues on the HD2.

What if they start promoting the fact locally on both 660 and the main 101.9 feed?

With CBS Sports Radio contributor Boomer Esiason 'already in the building', local promotion wouldn't be hard. Neither would exclusive streaming through the CBS New York local site.

Likely when Lenny Bloch was let go from WCBS-FM (and he was the caretaker for the CBS HD2 "ToNY" channel), that move seemed to pave the way for the CBS Sports Network to take "ToNY's" place on the 101.1 HD lineup (although the deck chairs were reshuffled a bit).

While it theoretically would make more sense programming-wise to put the network on 101.9 HD2, I'm guessing signal preservation could be at work here. (Citation needed ;D)
Also consider that while WEPN 98.7 analog and HD1 is also in mono, it does have 2 additional HD channels (Deportes - usually and ESPNews - intermittently).

After Midnight ET 1/2/13 when the network had its national debut, local liners for WIP 610 were still running on the stream.
**NYC note: as expected, the commercials and local liners heard on 101.1 HD3 are different from the webstream.
The 101.1 HD3 and higher quality webstream feeds are almost simultaneous; judging from back when WFAN was on 660 and 92.3 HD3, the webstream/101.1 HD3 feeds are likely 50-65 seconds behind "real time/live".

Scott Ferrall joined Tony Paige on WFAN at 2:07am after his 1st national shift ended. Talking about his first national show and his stint on Howard Stern's "Howard 101" SiriusXM channel. How he's matured over the years...etc. Glad to be back at CBS Radio.

There is a new transmitter built, tested and ready to go in the Bronx (same site as WFUV and WVIP).
Cumulus has yet to apply for a license to cover.
Bronxville isn't the Bronx.
