CC and Citadel Sandia stations off air

Surprised no one mentioned this yet. Both Clear Channel and Citadel FM stations were affected. Report is here at KRQE:

http://www.krqe.com/Global/story.asp?s=7232908

If you're getting static when tuning in to your favorite radio station, PNM says its most likely the wind, in fact, the wind knocked off the power to all the facilities on Sandia Crest, causing numerous Albuquerque radio stations to go off the air since this morning and many are still off. A lot of these stations have their radio signal towers up on the Sandia Crest that includes many operated by Clear Channel.Static is the sound you'll here when going to stations like 107.9 and The Peak.
[EDIT]

Remember at the balloon fiesta a few years ago when the Smokey the Bear balloon crashed and snagged on KKOB's tower, causing the signal to be shut down?

"More power" to Bill May - VP at CC - to get the generator going so it won't happen again!!! Clear Channel is always "on top" of things in the ABQ market!

no pun intended - on top of the Sandias !

As for the the balloon fiesta park, has the Wall Mart been approved or not for that area? I hope not.

hmmm maybe thats why xm wasnt getting a signal on the portable units

It is true CC has been spending a ton of money on trying to get the Sandia Crest Stations to a top 100 market level. New transmitters are/have been installed, generators, you name it. Bill May was on the money when he said CC is on top of the needs. Unfortunately due to mother nature we were caught with our pants down, literally. The problems, which I wont disclose, have been fixed and I look forward to the next power outage when the new generator will be puurrrrring right along and I will be sleeping. It is extremely embarassing that we are off the air ever and we are addressing all the weak links one at a time.
