CC Drops The Hammer Again

Ouch, such a shame. Looks to be true. Is Bill Love still there? Watch Murphy, Sam, and Jodi replace (WBBQ, WXLY) mornings at some point....syndicated by CC from Louisiana.

I bet Magic is happy....

Roger is a second generation broadcaster and has a wonderful on-air voice. I've seen pictures of his father back when he worked at WESC.

Sad day .... ???

I am not usually in a position to listen to radio in the morning....what was on 102.5? Automation?

I hadn't cared for WMYI's mornings since Love and Hudson....but this is just really sad. It just keeps getting worse. I'm no expert, but mornings seemed to be the best thing they had going for them these days. ??? :(

Bill Love is still there, but by himself. They had already cut any attempt at news. Now, with just Love, it will be pretty lame.

Funny, CC just made an announcement about their commitment to community service, and today they release the last news guy in the building.

Wow, that's big, Charlie was a known personality on WCOS with Pam and WVOC.

In an unrelated move, Alison Keller of WXLY's midday shift left last week, as her husband took a job at Fort Bragg. Kerri D. is replacing her.

Just another blunder that will hurt 102.5 in the long run. I would think it will become more of a serious, music-oriented show with just Love. I wonder if they will have the PD come in and assist with mornings.
IMO at this point there is no longer any real competition between Entercom and Clear Channel anymore with their ACs. It's pretty obvious Ent. has the better one and at least gives a rip about the way it sounds, unlike CC. That is indisputible if you listen to both stations for a little bit.

And no, I have not worked for either company.

I was in Greenville this past weekend for the first time since forever. I absolutely agree. The entercom station is way out front in my unbiased opinion.

entercom has really never offered a good morning show. rick and kimberly were the best they have done and many failures since. i believe that love by himself based on his time in the market and knowledge of the area will still be better than what entercom has. where's bo griffen?

I will agree. Mark & Monnie aren't the greatest, but are good. They are probably as stable as they will have.

Will Bill Love, without a female co-host, run some of the females off in the morning? He is very good, there is no arguing that - but WMYI obviously targets females, and I wonder if a lack of one in the morning will hurt them. Then again they had success with Love and Hudson for years, but I'm not sure how the music was focused and targeted then.

love and hudson were more important than the focus of the music then. now, researched music is more important than content. i'll take caller 4 to name the president. i'm still waiting on caller 2. it is sad and it is not just clear channel.

True...unfortunate but true.
I found this blog interesting - http://insidemusicmedia.blogspot.com/2009/04/next-radio-firings.html

BTW, didn't Sue Meyers do something at 96.7? I don't even know how they do things there, but I'm sure that's the least of their thoughts now.

My predicition is that they will call up a engineer out of the blue and request that they perform X work for Y pay. Flatrate. On a call-by-call basis. Then wait 90 days to get the check.

I'll respond something like "Sorry, my plate is full. Call me back when its off the air and I'll see what I can do. Also, have a credit card ready."

Columbia CC question: As they continue to get rid of quality personalities like Charlie James, Glen Garrett, etc, how can they justify paying personalities on a 1,000 watt sports am that has two FM direct competitors? What a slap in the face to all those let go.

I have been told that mornings are brokered (actually bartered), but 10am-3pm is salaried (and one even with benefits).
