CC Raleigh Selling.

Gee, cflmusiclover, sounds to me like you have an attitude problem and can't accept the fact that our industry is in dire straights. Is it any wonder that terrestrial radio listenership is eroding every year? Revenues are down, again. There just aren't that many of us that do have a positive attitude about the companies that are running most of the industry. There is very little in the way of loyalty and, certainly, job security has become a thing of the past.

What have you done lately to make it better?

Now, if you can't make (or accept) a light-hearted statement about how things are, then you need to get out of a business that's supposed to nurture fun and creativity, not supress it.

"Lighthearted statement"? Jokes about radio groups racing to see who can fire the most people is hardly lighthearted. One thing I've discovered about radio (or any business) is that no amount of carping, whining, complaining and bi^@hing changes anything. Some choose to be part of the problem, some prefer to be part of the solution. I always insist on working with people who embrace the latter.

While complaining and bitching can be anti-productive and appear to be only a negative influence, it is important in a way and has its place. If it where not for bitching and complaining, negative aspects of a situation might not be known, especially to someone not intimately involved in that situation. If you want to argue someones point of view directly, point on point, that is fine but just telling someone to shut up cause you don't like what they say is wrong. A casual comment, or worse, people shutting up about bad situations would just reinforce that bad activity without checks. This is why we have more and more 'whistle blower' protection. "LET THE PEOPLE BITCH!"
 
On the contrary...any CC markest outside the top-25 are open to negotiation. Raleigh and G'boro qualify as sale bait because they have fallen so hard and will cost many millions of dollars to research, market and staff back to the top. If the CC group sale goes through this year new ownership won't invest the money and will look for ways to raise capital by selling assets. Think Lincoln Financial. Whether or not anyone can step up at the multiples sought is another matter but everything in the Carolinas outside of Charlotte is in play.
 
Certainly you are not suggesting LF as a buyer?!? They are selling all of their radio and TV properties.

If you mean that was the situation they found when purchasing Jeff-Pilot, ignore this reply.

By the way, everything is for sale. It is just a matter of how much!
 
True, everything is for sale. If anyone wants to buy a 14 year old Jack Russell Terrier, who has Liver Cancer, and is a little blind and deaf, who also has Epilepsy, please let me know. Felix's (said dog) Chemo is actually working, and the Liver Cancer has stopped spreading!

$2500.00 or best offer. A 14 year old dog is considered "Vintage" ;D

If it were to happen, it seems to me that it would almost have to be Cox, right? Haven't they tried to by Curtis a couple of times to move into the market?

I meant the CC Raleigh isn't on any list as for sale. Of course ANY cluster is for sale.
