CC Rumored Layoffs Next Week

So now we know why WEBN is without a new morning show, as CC is going to be using premium choice in most day parts on most of its music stations. So far I haven't heard if WLW will be dumping any local programming in favor of syndication as of now.

So how do these licensed broadcast facilities service the public's interest, if these stations are basically becoming translators for the Death Star?

They are not firing the promotions people (yet...) so there will still be someone in town to fill the public service need (being at community events etc..)

All Access reports cuts in Dayton at the various stations.

Specifically so far:

WLQT/DAYTON, OH MD/on-air BRIAN MICHAELS
WMMX/DAYTON weekends and commercial production staffer RICK LEBEAU (does that end the long running Saturday Night Mix at Julia's?)
WTUE/DAYTON, OH, on-air and production "FESTER", production "NUDGE"
WXEG/DAYTON, OH PD/on-air STEVE KRAMER

Maybe there's something to that one personality per station remaining rumor?

Damn you CC! I worked with Rick LaBeau, super guy, extremely talented, great to work with. I believe he will land on his feet somewhere. He's too good to be out of work for long. Best wishes to all the axed staffers.

Well, CC needs to find $18 Billion in order to pay off its debt soon. This is what happens when you overpaid for a lot of radio stations and in 2011 they are not worth half of what they paid for them 10 -15 years ago.

"complete fools" is put very mildly.

I have another name for it but I won't say it here...otherwise it will be "truncated."

So how about dumping that $400 mil talk show host we all know and some say "ditto" to if you want to save some big bucks.

Thank you CC for destroying radio as we know it.

Kick-em when their down...."

Don't get me started. I absolutely passionately despise Clear Channel and all the rest of the suits and what they have done to the radio dial, the people and the listeners. Their form of radio is not in the public interest and their programming is truly what is killing radio as a whole and chasing listeners away to find pleasure in their iPods.

It is (and always will be) about profit. Until somebody "wins" a couple of ratings with live local programming and takes a lot of revenue from CC, Cumulus, and other operators who are getting by with "canned" programming this will continue. There was an station in IIRC Seattle that is promoting itself as "live". Lets hope they succeed!

Why would you dump a radio show that makes an estimated $150 million in revenue a year? You are beginning to sound as foolish as the CC suits you rail against.
