CC Sale

Do you want to become a PD? Here is the secret.

Become friends with an ops manager at Clear Channel. Brown nose daily.

You'll be a Clear Channel PD before you know it. It works!

Just ask Keith Hamiliton.

Havent talked to Tony H in some time. I think I pissed him off. Regardless, he's one of the good guys. Which is shocking given who he apprenticed under LOL!

Trades are reporting GoodRadio has lost it's primary financial backer but goes onto say the CC deal is still on...what would make a primary backer get the jitters so far into the deal? Could it be they don't like the numbers? Anyone hear anything locally? Whatever happened to Saga and Mansfield/Ashland?

Go to the HOME page and click on Tom Taylor's Radio-Info report. There is no need to speculate when you can read the actual story right here on this site.

TAYLOR: 'bottom line, Dean Goodman's going to come out of it in good shape (having avoided a problematic marriage). Here's how it unfolded, this story that T-R-I started telling you last week, and headlined on Monday morning."

Goodman is out. He is still getting to keep his purchases in Iowa and Missouri. Plus he is also keeping his seperate purchases in New York and Louisiana, plus a $3 million dollar paycheck from his buddies at American Securities.

But Warshaw might be in. Nothing has been set in stone on that, however it looks very very possible that Connoisseur II may fold into what Goodradio tried to pick up with some spinoffs down the road.

WRQN was a killer station when it was CHR. 93Q was a smaller station but blew away (then) 925 WMHE, who's "sister" station was Muzak in Toledo(can't remember the owners back then, maybe Cozlin Communications?). 93Q used to speed their tunes up & make 'em hotter & spicier sounding & they had it piped into the student union at Bowling Green. Their studios were in a Holiday Inn building I believe.(?)

What I can remember about WMHE when it would drift into West Central Ohio was an early AOR format (didn't WMHE stand for Michael Hildebrandt Electronics?), going disco still with AOR sounding jocks and I honestly don't remember much after that. When did WIOT get started as an AOR?

WIOT started Christmas Day, 1972.
After the disco days at 92.5, the station has been CHR. At times they changed their target age group at times but the basis for the music has been CHR.

WMHE went Hot AC in the late 80s/Early 90's & left 93Q & Tower 98 to battle it out, but that only lasted around 3 years. 925 went back to a weak CHR & "All Hit 93Q" switched to Oldies to compete with the then 3WM which had just gone oldies too. Anyone remember the name of the host of the short minute long series called "Second Thoughts" 925 ran on overnights in the wee hours ???(public service fills)Morton Brimley or someone like that? They also ran Rick Dees American Music Magazine in the evenings & were a bit like Y105 WMHE in their big era, '85-'86 or so when they had the Mitch Craig imaging & Foster & the Fox in the Morning.

That would be former (maybe still current) Detroit TV personality Mort Crim. He had a one minute segment in the 70s called "One Moment Please".

What do the last several conversations on this blog have to do with the CC sale?

Sunset-Who cares? Didn't know we're only "allowed" to think/discuss one thing without opening another discussion. My bad. Back to the CC sale: It's happening.
The End.

WMHE stand for Michael Hildebrandt Electronics

William Hildebrand I believe was the owner. Hence the WmH and the E for Electronics. The station was in the NW corner of the building, and around the back was the electronic parts store. In the middle was the Muzak business. I was an alumni of that establishment back in the late 60s when it was mono, and played show tunes and easy listening off LPs and Magnacorder tape machines. What fun!
