Besides, it's sounding more and more like Ansin has blinked. The lack of support from other affiliate owners surely hasn't helped his bargaining position. So, short-term we'll probably see Leno on 7.

Huh? All I've seen is that one aritlce someone posted, which really just jumped to some conclusion because the story was pulled from the WHDH webiste. Is there some other aritcle out there indicating that WHDH is having second thoughts?

I have a strong suspicion that NBC will still stay with WHDH (Channel 7), after all. I would think that NBC is not in a position to create a start-up NBC O&O from scratch, especially in this economy. And I'm sure that Ansin does not want to have a similar scenario like the Bay Area's KRON (Channel 4), which lost it's NBC affilation to an out of town station (KNTV/Channel 11 in San Jose). Ansin cannot afford another situation like that or another WSVN scenario. He is still shell shocked from that one. Calmer heads will prevail.

As for Channel 7 and NBC in the future? More than likely the affiliation will continue up until the end of the contract. After that, it's anybody's guess. More than likely, NBC might eventually exercise their options and put NBC on a commonly O&O station in the market (my best guess would be WBPX). We shall see.

The Ansin Family Seder

Imagine this conversation over the the Wednesday night Passover Seder:
"So what does you grandfather (or father) do?"
"Grampa (or Dad) owns a TV station in Boston, in fact its an NBC affiliate, right Grampa (Dad)?"
Ed Ansin: "Um... Let's not talk business around the Passover table. So, who wants to read this part of the Haggadah?"

That might be an uncomfortable moment!
