Change at WGR

Seems like he's getting more pub now than when he worked for the station. Here's what appeared in The News today. The opinion piece, although somewhat indicting, isn't altogether bad. Wonder how the E'com suits feel about this.

I don't know how his contract is written, or if he even had one, but if you're fired for cause, that does not negate the non compete clause. If it did, everybody with a non compete would just try to get fired as soon as a better job popped up.

Somebody better read their provisions.

Well, we don't know what his contract said regarding being terminated. Sounds like Riter is pretty sure he's a free man though. As far as a non-compete goes at this time there isn't another sports station so WGR is probably safe.

This is not as close to being the same thing, but I'll give an example of an instance of a severance deal (Riter said he didn't get any severance pay after ten years). I worked for a major computer company for a relatively short time and was let go due to "poor economic conditions and restructuring" at the company. They told me in exchange for a two week severance check and my unused vacation time that I would have to sign a document promising not to talk to the press or message boards about why I was let go. If I didn't sign I would get nothing. Perhaps it was the reverse for Riter; no severance and you are free to do what you like.

Live from the reception....

Attended a wedding in Cheektowaga when young Mr. Brad Riter actually introduced the bridal party and bride/groom....
Nope, not kidding...

Frankly, the sports coverage on 97 and the Edge for Bills coverage, and some Kevin Sylvester appearances are much better than the drovel WGR is pushing.

...which is meaningless, as you point out, since there is no other sports station. One day a week on 97 Rock doesn't exactly count, even if that were a possibility.

I might buy into the "one day a week on 97 and 103." Maybe. Ahh, prob'ly not. But Kevin Shill-veshter? I'll leave that one on the counter, thank you.

These may be the times when you wished 107.7 was still doing sports... uhhh, upon further review... no. BTW, does 97 Rock carry a JP Losman show? If so, the question "if a tree falls in a forest and nobody hears it, does it make a sound?" might apply to the Losman radio show, especially after yesterday's Bills-Jets game.
