Change is coming

People who couldn't care less know about the change coming in a week and a half. Roger was hoping to make...whoever...believe he had some inside info.

Scroll around and see if Roger wasn't advised, early on, that his 'prediction' time was premature.

Far as I'm concerned I'm always on the edge of my seat waiting for Roger's next insider nugget.

You may also scroll around for my thoughts on the need for a sarcasm font.

Change is Susquehanna changing WARM 590 going all-Sunshine Pop ..... or WICK 1400 going to Soul Oldies ..... or WILK simulcasting WWV ..... or a new startup MoR on 1320.

Let's make The Start-up MOR on 1320 The Next Unfounded Rumor.

Lol Dave !

WSCR 1320 was so directional, away from CT, from two stations in downstate PA and one in Pittsburgh, that you'd expect to see a coverage pattern map that had the outer contours completely within the confines of their towers.

What date did they go off, and why?
And what had been WSCR's main sustinence format?

Smaller stations have survived ..... 1400, 1340, 730, 1240. What was the story for WSCR? Poor coverage ?

We DXers * did * hear them on Long Island on occasion. The toughest (and last) AM to log from the market was WICK 1400.

(Excerpted From Andy Palumbo's Blogspot from last year.)

WSCR was a top 40 type station for a long time. It had a string of different owners and formats before going off the air, for good.

WSCR had a loyal audience in the Scranton area. It was hampered by a less than stellar signal-- 1,000 watts during the day, dropping to 250 at night. The great Tim Karlson worked there before moving to WARM, WBRE, and WNEP. My good friend and Mid Valley classmate Jerry Padden is also an alumnus.

Management dropped the heritage WSCR call letters in an attempt to reach out beyond Scranton-- a more regional approach. It wasn't a bad idea, at least on paper. Unfortunately, the station didn't have the signal strength to be a regional powerhouse. It didn't work.

I thought the big change was The Mountain going to an HD signal of WKRZ and 102.3 switching to Sports next Monday. Just what NEPa needs..yet another Sports station. Yawn. The WSCR as in Score, not Scranton would be great, but those calls are on 670 in Chicago.

speaking of change, i heard la tarrone on wilk this morning..not sue henry, and didnt hear him say he was sitting in for her..also, he used his own open, and elements for phone calls... could this be another change? aromondo, whats your insight on this?

On Friday Sue Henry said she was told by Nancy Kman that she needed to take a vacation, and then said when your boss tells you its time to take a vacation you better listen to her. So she was taking this week off.

500 at night. And I think they were only directional at night, believe it or not.
It was WKAP 1320 in Allentown that had five towers and was quite directional.

Change is still coming to a radio station near you! Stay near you radio! You do not want miss this change! Get ready and roll a tape!!

Joe Thomas and John Webster announced on the morning show on WILK that
102.3 will be "The Sports Hub" starting Monday, and Joe will be doing a local
talk show from noon 'til 3.
