Changes at CMG Winston-Salem

Thanks for clearning that up Staffman. I agree with you on Bob Campbell and with Bill Flynn. Still think that Curtis got caught sleeping at the wheel with Rush in both GSO and Raleigh but the shows are part of CC and Rush carries a "Big Stick" and finally got "Rush Radio". Thanks for clearing this up.

nuffsaid you bring up a good point about sleeping at the wheel

You would have to beleive they knew about not getting Rush back for a lonnng time before hand. They just rode it out until the end of 09'....I dont even know if they made an announcement on the air. I remember their website had a letter written by Tom Hamilton saying how WSJS wasnt able to renegotiate a deal with Clear Channel (Premeire) to get Rush.

Not calling you out, but more the listeners, Its a shame people dont realize that stuff more. I have talked to several friends, radio listeners who have that "ahhh I hate SJS' they got rid of Rush!" knee jerk reaction. They dont do any real thinking then the rumor gets around WSJS gets rid of Rush/Hannity

It was just a matter of time for Rush and Hannity to move from WSJS to FM. There was no loalty in either camp for the stations that helped make them successful.

Again, I honestly believe that if WPTF and WSJS took $150,000 (a fraction of what they paid for Rush) and hired a top host and producer, and simulcast a good North Carolina oriented program they could garner ratings and make some real money. It has been proven in market after market that a good local host with a well produced program (left alone by management) could beat Rush - particularly when he is on a marginal signal in the market.

94.5 has always had signal problems - from the original country days (who remembers I-95?) through beautiful music, Cat Country, 94-5 The Rock Alternative, several other variations of rock and country, to spanish to talk! If they haven't already, turn off the stereo pilot! It will help a little in the fringes.

Just for the record, WRDU leaves their stereo pilot light on, when i caught WPTI a few days back, i think the same applied.

And pray tell me why would they do that??? BIGAPE

The theory is that stereo liners, commercials, and station promos will jump out at you because you're using to hearing the mono talk.

The theory is crap. In reality, all it does is needlessly cut the coverage area.

That's exactly what I was thinking...Glad we are on the same page! BIGAPE
