Changes at K-High 101.9

According to KKHI's Steve Hamilton's Facebook post it says that K-High's Programming is going off 101.9 but he vows to keep the brand and music alive on the Website.

As of Midnight K-High has moved to the Internet to K-High.com and 101.9 is now known as Colorado's Way-FM a Chrstisn format.

So...does this "WAY-FM" have any local presence in their markets, or is it all satellite fed?
I couldn't tell from their website.

I am an online listener from Tennessee of KKHI, they mentioned on their website finding a new home for K High, is there a spot on the dial they could put it. Maybe 102.3 or 105.5, I heard they were stunting?

Not quite. They have a full time, local staff of roughly a half dozen. Main studio is in Longmont. They have a couple dayparts voice-tracked from sister stations, but who doesn't?

That's not correct. WayFM while not 100% local talent, they are very involved in their communities including Denver and the talent that does come out of their other markets do make visits to the Denver area for apperences and special events..

That is true they do things in their communities but if you look at all the other WAY FM websites, morning with Brent is a synidcated show for Way FM and so is Donna Cruz. The others I think they are
local, but at least when they do a fund raiser for themselves they are local and live on the air at least.
And no 102.3/105.5 has been sold to Dealing Dough (apprently) I am still not 100% convinced since 105.5 is still Jack and new commericals are always added daily. But that is another topic, so those
2 frequencies are out. I have told Steve time and time again that 102.9 is up for grabs (not knowing if he is going to grab it or not). I know 102.9 is not in Denver but it is his best choice unless 105.1 or 100.3 or 92.5 comes up for sale or something.

Here's the inside-scoop on WAY-FM for you.

WAY-FM Media Group basically operates TWO formats.

1. Their national network, originating out of Nashville, TN and simulcast on various properties that are mostly in the southeast, mid-south, and northwest.

2. Denver/Colorado (They have sticks up and down I-25, among other areas). Different target audience. Hotter music mix. Originates locally (out of Longmont). When they're understaffed, they utilize the Network's talent. I'll betcha that before summer is done you'll hear a lot less of those folks than what you currently hear.

WIll I knew they do a satallite feed to some of their stations, and I kinda found out in the morning and in the afteroon that their talents are not localized at all, which is ashamed since the main office is in Colorado springs.
I am quite disappointed in the owner, becasue KXWA was suppose to be at the time of the launch to be localized with live personality not this BS! What a Christain Rock station.
So why do you say that before the summer is over that we well be hearing lot less of those folks? Is he going to be laying off people come August or something?

I think he's saying that the plan is to only use network programming in Denver when they're understaffed. So, they'll be staffing up this summer with local people and, thus, using fewer network personalities.

Kent is correct, or close to it.

Will then that is great news then! THat would help out KXWA in so many ways, since it has gotten so out of control of using network personalities then hiring local ones. Like i said before kXWA was meant to be a local station not what they doing now.

And even if Wilks WERE to sell out, it's highly doubtful that the formats on either of the stations & their associated HD subchannels would radically change. Just the (Amount of) talent would (I don't think those stations air much syndicated programming either).

The formats themselves would simply be tweaked (If not overhauled).

JMO.....

Cheers :D

Any updates lately on KKHI coming back to Denver radio? I knew they were working on a couple of things. Just wondering. :-\

Nope, actually K-HIGH is doing better as an internet radio station then anything! To tell you something, Steve Hamliton has done an exellent job on programming K-high online that you know,
he doesn't need to return to regualr radio! K-High is the best (and I do mean this) the best Smooth Jazz Internet radio, online! I do mean that, I have listened to a lot of Smooth Jazz stations online, and by
all K-High online is the best! THere is nothing like listening to a non commericalized internet radio station like K-high no commericals! That alone should tell you that K-high is the best!
Plus he has been loosing employees left and right.

Yikes! All I asked was, if it was coming back. I get your answer is no.

Steve has always done a great job on programming. I like K HIGH along with The .wav http://www.wavjazz.net/ for online only smooth jazz stations.

Good conclusion. Terrible information. You are kidding, right? If not, you wonder why I insinuate you don't know what you're talking about?

While I agree K-High sounds good, it can't last without commercials. They said they were looking for another FM signal for K-High after Bustos sold 101.9. I can't imagine they'll get another signal. I suppose it's possible they could buy one of the former NRC stations (102.3 or 105.5), but that seems unlikely as the new owners will probably want more than K-High's group can afford. Also, KARS-FM 102.9 was recently put into a divestiture trust, and KYEN 103.9 has long been rumored to be for sale. However, if they were to buy those stations, they wouldn't reach enough of Denver to matter anyway. What other Denver stations are for sale?
