Craig Allen gone.
Larry Dixon out.
Two new morning show staffers after the 1st.
John Summers moves to afternoons.
Sandy Sharpe moves to nights.

Didn't they just have some of their biggest numbers ever?!!

Does Chuck still do the 2-5 slot?

>>>Yes Chuck still does that slot. Is ABCDJ quite sure about this, and when does this take place? I really hate to see Larry go, he just got there.

Is a certain individual at KLUV feeling a bit "crowded"
by the presence of certain other individuals around the place?

Dean? No,butitwas a matter of time to put his own staff together, not inherited one. The overnighter sounds as about as exciting as a rotary phone. So exciting that I can't remember his name. The weekenders are weak. "Shotgun" Tom's syndicated show was far better than the current stuff. Again thank God for XM and Cd's.

If this is true, that is a real shame. Larry Dixon is a great guy and great talent.

The 'overnite guy' is Bob Gomez. "Shotgun" Tom is a different guy. You probably meant "Truckin'" Tom Kent.

I had heard a rumor that come February, Chuck Brinkman was going to hang up the microphone.. and that John Summers was going to slide into his spot and Larry Dixon was going to take his place-- as for over nights-- not sure who was going to move in-- but now since someone has said that Larry is not with KLUV now-- I guess that part of the rumor can be squelched... oh well--

Not sure why Craig Allen was let go-- thought he did fairly well as producer/sports reporter... but like someone said.. Jody is going to put his staff together to make it work for him... so far so good as far as numbers show-- and to be honest with you-- the sound is good in the mornings with the crew that is there-- so hoping who ever is brought in after the first-- will enhance it and keep it moving.. so far I like what I hear!

Just a thought!

FYI KPLEXCOMPLEX:

The person you're slamming (Catfish Jim Prewitt) had some of the best ratings on sat night when he was there the first time (2001-2003) In the 2001 Summer ARB i was #2 25-54 (up from 14th place) Those ratings were some of the highest numbers ever on sat night. and i kept that daypart top 10, hovering between #4 and #10 most of my tenure. When i left to take a full time gig, TK eventually took over. Tom Kent is a dear friend of mine and i helped get his show on KLUV, however his 25-54 numbers dropped and the new pd brought me back. I do the best job i can on kluv and i'm sorry it's not to your liking. Happy Holidays. Jim Catfish Prewitt 6-mid Sat on KLUV.

Some of the moves at KLUV recently are kind of hard to figure out. The numbers are back up, but they're also back in a position where they have almost no competition, which is not a bad place to be. Why was Larry Dixon hired in the first place for a 3-hour shift? As for Chuck, his days are most likely numbered. John Summers got the move he deserved after waiting half his adult life to get off nights. Debbie Diaz stays the consistant glue of the station. She's the best they have. It's just too bad that the "morning minions" of Mr. Dean have to put up with the arrogance, ego, and temper. He has stated that he definitely WAS a person with those wonderful attributes in the past. From what many people say who deal with him every day, not much has changed. Jody...you're a blessed man. You make a ton of money, have a great family, and a bright future. Isn't it time to start REALLY practicing what you preach? Just keep reminding yourself...you're not Ron Chapman. You're his successor. There's no TV camera in the KLUV studio. It's called CLASS, and even though the morning legend had his "moments," in the end, he knew what the words class and respect meant to other people. They're priceless, and they make great Christmas gifts.

DUDE: "Slamming" IS too strong of a phrase and over used by you when one disagrees with you. HOW DARE THEY? BTW your name wasn't mentioned. Thanks. Tom Kent I feel does a better show. Darn we disagree. I never see others (who are very successful) boast about their own numbers. Merry Christmas yourself.

When you consider Chuck has been there for almost 20 years,it's a remarkable achievement in this market. He probably is tired and doesn't want to spend the remainder of his life behind a microphone. Ron made the same type of decision and in this age of notables like Ron in radio,in TV Dan,Tom,Ted,the "notables" are retiring. It's quite an acomplishment of doing what you love for 45 years especially in major markets. John Summers(and I apologize for leaving it out early)is refreshing to listen to. He's unpretenous, entertaining, plus knowledgable.Larry Dixon is a nice guy,but he seemed out of place at KLUV.Sharpe is very good, and has the energy to sustain and build an audience.
Jody as I pointed out before has put the morning show on a shakedown cruise. Expect him to change support personnel as the year goes on. That is the priority of most morning show hosts, the search for chemistry.

Although we often fight like dogs and cats, Jim has been my friend since we met at Metro Traffic.

He has worked at WAPE "The Big APE", WLAC, Nashville, the old KLIF 1190 -- Mike Snyder was his newsman at KLIF ...

San Jose, Birmingham, Oklahoma City.

He's been around the block and back again.

His resume is the most impressive I have ever seen.

When WLS was top 40 ... the station tried to hire him.

WLS should have.

Jim can do character voices you would not believe ... his Walter Brennan is incredible.

Jim is incredible.

He has battled adversity and illness ... and keeps bouncing back.

And although we have had our shares of battles (right Jim?), I am proud to have him as a friend.

When you can beat Tom Kent, you are not Clark Kent.

You are Superman!

More to say about this after I get back ...

"I shall return" -- Douglas MacArthur

Tony

p.s. my original post had a typo ...

it is corrected above ...

should and does read now ...

When you can beat Tom Kent, you are no Clark Kent.

You are Superman!

Thanks again.

I am a fan and friend of Tom Kent, having worked with him over 20 years ago at B-94 in Pittsburgh. Tom's a first rate talent, but for whatever reason, that show was the lowest rated daypart on the station, 19th, I believe. Maybe it was the music: one time I heard "WOLD" by Harry Chapin....whoops! Catfish is also a first rate talent who does smokin' phones and, he's LOCAL, playing the music that got K*LUV to #2 12+.
