Changes for "DOT-FM" 96.7 WXZO....

Competing against 95 Triple X is not for the faint of heart or stomach.

I'm sure the midday jock is a very nice lady, and maybe even has a personality when she's not tracking a show or reading index cards. But I don't know who she is. Is she a political hire? Is she friends with the PD? There's dozens of people who want to be on the radio...you couldn't even get somebody who lives in Burlington to do a radio show?

Both of you guys really need to get a life if you are now timing records to see how pitched up they are.

Here's some advice....let the station be on the air for a week figuring out any problems and then start to judge it. In the meantime...is there a college station you two could tear apart?

You need to get a life if you're telling people to get a life. See how that works?

The time to figure out problems is BEFORE you broadcast it for the world to hear.

hahaha, you both have a point. You guys are cutting them down pretty badly, and I'm sure that's because you are so biased for Triple X. No biggie. But in your defense, Will, you're right, most of these things should have been worked out and polished up beforehand. I'm sure it has everything to do with getting it on in time for the fall book.

With that said, my two cents, those EOMs need to be tightened up badly! You could drive a truck through some of those segues. Also, how must Ben Hamilton be feeling about Elvis Duran being on the Planet.... specifically with the phone scams. Two stations in the same market using the slogan "brings families together, while tearing homes apart"... heard that this morning and had a good laugh.

I have no bias for Triple X. I speak of what they do truthfully and without affinity.

Of course, the X now owns "tearing homes apart" in the market...but hey, it's not my fault nobody at Kiss listened to me when I said "carry the morning show that your company owns that your competition is stealing from."

I am not tearing anything apart and I have no loyalty to XXX. I am just sharing my opinion based on what I hear.

I have done several station launches and every i was dotted, every T was crossed. The stations did not go on before they sounded like a 100% finished product. Of course tweaks are made after you hear it on the air but based on the plan, the stations were 100%.

First impressions are the most important. If someone turns on the station for the first time and hears a poor product they may never come back. The imaging is weak (the VO guy does not fit the format). The jingles are poor quality and do not fit the format. The mid-day chick was wayyyy below par. The afternoon guy wasn't terrible but he wasn't that great either. He does have some potential. He need some major coaching, and with that, he may become a pretty good jock.

Look, you can get away with sub-par product sometimes, but not if you are going after (or even hope to make a dent) the Heritage CHR that sounds as good as they do. It really is suicide.

Why is it bad for a station that wants teen listeners, to have jocks that sound young? Unpolished generally sounds pretty young. I've heard some voices on there that are blatantly teenagers.
MAYBE, the kids would like to hear one of their own on their favorite station, and not someone that could be their Mom or Dad. Hmmmmm

Teen listeners? The only stations I know of that consciously target people under 18 run Radio Disney. And their disposable income is based upon what their parents give them. In Burlington, that would be very little. This is not Westchester or Beverly Hills. I can't imagine that's anybody's business plan, even Ken Barlow's.

I'm sorry, I really hate ragging on talent but this mid-day chick is brutal. It sounds like she is "mailing it in". No energy and she is cutting up her voice tracks. Last break I heard 2 obvious edits. Yikes . The only things that sounds right on this station is the music. Jocks aren't very good, imaging is not very good, the production on the commercials doesn't fit (I know that is out of their hands sometimes, but the local spots).

I think I found where she (Molly J) is based out of. WZSR in Illinois. It is an AC station so that might be the reason for her delivery. She does (maybe live?) mid-days there.

If you are gunning for the heritage CHR… Why not call in one of it’s founding personalities and put Lana back on.

You mean the same company that dumped her earlier this year?

If a person still needs a job and circumstances change…and mistakes are acknowledged and respect given. It’s not unheard of... Just saying.

Louie - the upstart CHR is not putting a 45 year old woman on in middays. And I like your sentiment, but if I was fired from a morning show, and then offered middays in the same cluster, I'd tell them to piss up a rope.

Big Bill - Yes, it's Slater from Champ.

Was in Burlington this weekend...96.7 was complete static at the intersection of Battery and College. Not good. The new live midday girl is an improvement, though. Need to not spend 45 seconds talking about what's on TV tonight, though.

And for the love of Christ, please kill that awful "moment of silence" sweeper. Or if you're going to run it, try running it into a song, not a spot.
