Channel 106.7 ?

I read on another radio board that Citadel registered www.channel1067.com, and it directs you to Mix 106.7's website. What is going on at Mix? If a format change is in the works, what could it be? A Generation-X 90s based format?

A 90s and now Hot A/C. WNNK is SO conservative now. WARM has returned to a more mainstream A/C approach. This wouldn't be a bad idea.

90s and Now would be something different for southcentral PA. Between 96.1, 97.3, and 98.5, the classic hits format is pretty much covered. The area is lacking a Hot AC/CHR hybrid type of station. Does Citadel own any stations with the Channel name? If so, what is the format?

Interesting very interesting. With 98.5 and 96.1 not to mention 98.1 which comes in strong in Lancaster county there is a chance that 106.7 will be dumping classic hits. My guess is that it will become a modern rock station similar to 104.5 in Philly.

I wonder if Citadel would put modern rock on 106.7 with owning active rocker 105.7 WQXA. The "Channel" moniker sounds like it could be modern rock, but with the X, I'd have a hard time believing they'd launch a modern rock station. My guess is a 90s based station or 90s and now Hot AC/CHR hybrid.

Or a straight ahead CHR to compete against LAN in Lancaster, fill the non CHR void in York, and take on the weaker signaled 92.1 and 99.3.

CHR has shown that it can attract strong females #s, even 35-54's if it is pop based, Women 4o plus love lady Gaga. That's a fact.

WNNK has really softened its sound, from a presentation and imaging standpoint. They are vulnerable to a pop based CHR station that is FUN.

No doubt about it. This might be the answer Citadel needs to fix 106.7.

Remember 106.7 CoolPop from 2004 into 2005? I think they were trying to tackle Wink 104; however, CoolPop was an unfocused station. They would play 70s music through today, but still try to be a CHR. I remember they did all 70s weekends at times as "Studio 106.7". If a focused 90s and now CHR/hot AC type of station would come onboard with an upbeat presentation, Citadel could have a winner with 106.7.

They have to do something! The ratings have been dead in the water for along time. They're not going to do country because of WIOV so I would question doing modern rock because of WQXA. A CHR hybrid sounds too much like Cool Pop. I will say that it's not unlike Citadel to play website games. Several years ago during Cat Country days, I-105 WIOV's website was wiov.com. If you went to I105.com, you ended up on Cat Country's site. I don't think Citadel would taske the time and expense just to throw off radio-info posters so let the speculation begin. We're already into the spring book.....so why flip now? Maybe summer? If they go modern rock, they could use the X jocks to voice track. Just a thought. Is there enough difference between modern rock and active rock that the stations wouldn't cancel each other out?

The X and IOV are the two bread winners in the Citadel cluster. I doubt they will do anything that could possibly impact the X.

Cool Pop failed not so much because of the music played but the presentation and imaging of the station. It was a concept that went over the head of the typical Central Pennsylvania listener. I doubt many people got it. Back then, WNNK had a much brighter presentation than it does now.
Channel 1067 screams a younger format----But Citadel better not overthink the market again like it did with Cool Pop.

That is probably why nothing has been done. Citadel doesn't want to make another huge mistake. Trying to find a hole in the market is tough, but there has got to be something that can be done with that signal that can get better numbers on average than a 2 or 3 that won't impact IOV or the X. Good luck!

Something is going on at 106.7. I noticed yesterday that their website is down and the RDS on my car stereo no longer said "Adult Hits - Mix 106.7". It was blank.

I heard an hour ago that everyone, what few there were, are out at Mix. I also heard the X has been affected. Can anyone confirm?

I've worked with Rick and John. Great guys. Sorry to see this happen, for everyone involved.

I just heard a song by Santana and one by George Benson. IT is still saying Mix 106.7. I guess they must be stunting. ANy word on the new format?

My money is on CHR. But you know, for years WIOV and WRKZ coexisted and made money. Lots of it. 'bout time something happens in this market

But WIOV and WRKZ weren't both owned by Citadel at the time. CHR or a very young version of Hot A/C makes the most sense. And targeted to females.
