Channel 3.1 Dallas?

Lightning strike?

I was channel-surfing Friday night and happened to be on channel 3 when all of a sudden it went off the air. It was still off the air earlier today. Tried multiple TVs, so I know it wasn't just a problem with one TV. (34 was also dark Friday, but it was back on the air today.)

So if anyone suddenly can't get it this weekend, don't sweat it. I suspect it'll be Monday before someone fixes it.

It's good to hear at least one of us (tested) was helped by their antenna change. Plano was a bit of a surprise, though. I would have thought the change would help folks closer to Cedar Hill with only rabbit ears, but not folks out in the 'burbs. Interesting.

BTW, TVFool.com hasn't updated their database since May 22, and still shows KHPK/3 with their old antenna pattern.

Add me (in Frisco) to the list noting an improvement when the pattern was changed. I've never had any problem getting it -- by virtue of a good location -- but the modification made by KHPK has resulted in an uptick in the signal quality reading.

With all due respect to MAKO, and I'm being serious, I wonder who actually watches this station. I don't think I'm too far off the mark in surmising that the weekly cume consists of JHBrandt, tested, e skipper and me. And I doubt that any of us watches it -- it exists primarily for our test purposes.

3-1 consists of a short playlist of repeated infomercials and 3-2 is color bars. Even though we RF geeks can pick it up (if we have the right equipment), would anyone in the general audience even stumble across it?

You are absolutly correct. However if they had no revenue coming in I'm sure the station would be off the air. I just want to know how much Joan Rivers hair care product they've really sold off that frequency.

Remember when stations had to justify their existence every couple of years at license renewal time? Look what dereg did for us.
 
For what it's worth, the past two days I have gotten perfect reception of 3.1. It's measuring around 50-55% on my signal strength meter, but the signal has had no dropouts or pixilization at all. Have they done anything else to the signal or are the atmospherics working out just right for me?
