Experience does not equal professionalism.

Im just saying here, experience is a plus! Ive been in the business for almost 15 years, helped in programming some of America's leading Top 40 and Active Rockers including Norfolk, Lexington and Indianapolis.

When it comes to our "examination" of Fly 92.9 as experienced individuals - thats what I call professionalism.

From examining your posts, Your shouting, Bob the GM of CC, "I love you".

Experience, historic knowledge or an ability to simply talk a good game doesn't make one a pro. If it did, most sports talk radio callers would be knocking down multi-million dollar salaries.

As for me? I'm secure enough in who I am and in what I've done "in the business," that I don't have to pose online with an exagerated resume.

Oh. And no. I've never met, nor do I support the antics of "Bob the GM of CC." Whoever that is.

Ned:

If your suggestion is that I am not a professional because I might, occassionally on these boards take someone to task for their lack of knowledge of the business, you and I have a different view of professionalism. I don't like it when I take someone to task. I usually couch it by saying "sorry". But, if you re-read that post, every single word was correct and accurate. If you tried to tell your doctor how to make a diagnosis, or tried to tell your auto mechanic how to fix your car, you might get a similar response. Why? They're professionals. They've worked long hours, years, learning their profession. So have I. 34 years worth.

I can appreciate there are many on these boards who don't work in radio, they're just passionate and they have an opinion. Fine. But, I also think it's fair for people such as myself (and other professionals who post on these boards) to offer a "correction", an "analysis" or some simple reasons why someone's suggestion doesn't work. But, I also believe if someone is going to be critical and take radio stations (whether mine or anybody else's)
to task without knowledge of the facts, I have the right to set the record straight. And, if you go through 99% of the opinions or facts I have posted on this board, I am, on a whole, a lot more patient with people than I should be.

I've never, ever misrepresented myself on this board. I, too, am confident about who I am...and the things I have accomplished in my career. Program Director (twice), Assistant Program Director (multiple times and markets), Music Director, Production Director (once winning an Addy Award of Excellence for station imaging), top rated air talent, News Director, News Anchor, etc. I have successfully battled through two "radio wars" in my career, doing my part and learning a heck of a lot along the way. There's no exaggeration of my resume there.

In my present job, I assist with the programming of 4 successful radio stations, I work with 3 of the best consultants in the business, and for whom I have great respect. I offer ideas. And, every now and then, they're taken. And, I have worked with some other great consultants, broadcast pros, even a major market PD or two along the way. I have always been grateful for their encouragement, critques and support.

When I returned to Dayton in 2004, I learned how I had friends in this business I never knew I had. Those were the people who (without my knowledge), went to bat for me with my bosses when they heard I was looking for a job. And, if I didn't have a good rep in this business, if I was a real phony, that would never have happened. The people whom I've had the pleasure to work with, who know me, know my work ethic, know who I really am.

Have I ever been a major market star or programmer? Nope. Never wanted to be. But, as for radio experience, I've been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt and the hard knocks to prove it.

Jason -

I agree, you are one of Dayton's most gifted radio vets, and I hope you continue to make these stations a great sucess. I have a lot of respect for you and you know you have my back as well.
