Channels I would like to see made

I'd like to see the networks run a second subchannel that featured either reruns of their programming that hasn't been seen in a long time or maybe a free news channel (no more local weather channels they are nothing more than advertisement for their main channel.

an alternavtive Fox News channel on a sub of a local fox affiliate. It could be like the old headline news, so it wouldn't be in compition with the main Fox News Channel.

ABC could have a classic Disney subchanel which would have old disney movies and shows from the vault that never play on Disney Channel anymore. Late night they could switch too more adult fare from Touchstone, Buena Vista or old ABC movies.

A free sports subchannel that could carry games not normally carried on ESPN or games where there may be a scheduling conflict with the main ESPN similar to ESPN alternative

Theirs a few sports subchannels, Universal Sports and Untamed Sports

A Sports Channel that's a Major Network but would just have Sports Talk Shows,Movies,Game Shows, like Sports Night Reruns and so on.
Sporting News could run it (Only throw out the game shows as that's what GSN does)
A Fox Cartoon Channel.
Why? Want one from NBC Universal too?
A Channel like VH1 Mega Hits was.
Which would eventually get shows like 16 & Pregnant on it? No thanks.
CBS doing it's own News Network
Why? They can't even run a decent OTA network. If you ask me, CBS should simply partner with CNN for news.
and ABC News One on Cable Systems.
I agree. ABC News Now (Not ABC News One as you have it above) should be on cable or made available to affiliates as a subchannel (Should they so choose to carry it of course) so it can be added to cable that way.
Fox doing a National Sports Net and Sporting News 24/7 to complete against ESPNNEWS.
National sports network for Fox - Why? What would be the point? I do agree though that Fox Sports should have a sports news channel. But what could they possibly name it?
A Channel just for Diasters Shows and Movies.
Umm.....Do you not get HBO, Movie Channel, Showtime, etc.?

We don't need a disasters channel.
ACCUEATHER full time Channel to complete against the Weather Channel.
Many local stations are now turning to AccuWeather for their weather subchannels & most of those channels are now on cable.

Sorry but this list is flawed.

Just my opinion.....

Cheers :D

They would use the Sporting News name for the Channel.

Accuweather Channel has it's own people and then other part Local but just make it 24/7 National with local mixed in.

SFYI shows moves like Category 6 or Volcano in New York but we don't have a Channel showing like them 24/7.

Just a Channel that plays Soft Rock/Pop Music from 80's to Today.

Theirs no Sport Game Shows on TV right know and Wipeout on ABC doesn't count.

The Star Trek Channel - By my count there's about 740 hours of Star Trek tv shows and movies. It's enough to have a channel all by itself. You could throw in some of the other shows and documentary films that have been done about Star Trek too.
All Sci-Fi shows & movies all the time. Hmmm.....Sounds great in theory. Too bad there's a little something called REALITY TV which would likely interfere with it though :(
The Space Channel - All about space, the space program, astronomy etc. It seems to me that there are enough shows from Discovery and National Geographic to make something like this possible. Maybe team up with NASA for more original programming too.
Agreed but it seems to me that cable companies don't realize how CHEAP it would be to put NASA TV in their lineups. Strange though as both satellite companies do.
The Reality Channel - yes, I know Fox had a reality channel, but it was limited to Fox shows. Do one that could cull reality shows from all the networks and you might have something. I enjoyed watching some of the old stuff on Fox Reality. I'm sorry it's gone.
Great. That means it only had a total of ONE loyal viewer. Says a lot, doesn't it?
News Of The World - CBC ran a network called Newsworld Interntional that aired news program from around the globe. I loved it. It was bought by Al Gore and changed into Current TV.

I think there's a market for international news. For that matter, I'd love to see someone run CBC's "The National" regardless of whether we get a full time channel for international news.
Current TV should be replaced on cable with FreeSpeech TV (Which is a much better network).

As for a 24/7 International news channel, Mhz. Networks (Available as a subchannel on many PBS affiliates) is now springing up on cable systems as a digital cable channel. Here in Denver, it's on Channel 252. True, Mhz. Networks isn't exactly 24/7 news (They do broadcast oriental programming from other genres), they do offer news straight from the source (Even Al Jazeera is on there). If Mhz. Networks isn't yet available on digital cable in your area, you might consider lobbying your cable company & PBS station that carries it. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Cheers :D

Every time the idea of talk shows comes up, they tend to go with simulcasting the radio.
To better strengthen your point, I think they should try this idea while doing things radio can't.
Like what ESPN does with Mike & Mike In The Morning. But 24/7 ;)

Cheers :D

Don't we already have that with the likes of NFL Network, MLB Network, or even the regional sports nets...
None of those do all talk though.

Cheers :D

Classic Nickelodeon Channel. Call it Nick Rewind with shows from it's start until 2003. As the network gets bigger they could make a NickRewind2 or a Classic Nick channel.

A PBS subchannel that shows all the pledge-period programmes and concerts, so that (1) they actually *would* keep delivering such programming all the time, and (2) they wouldn't screw up their main channels' schedules with it. OPB definitely could benefit from such a sub.

A subchannel running nothing but music video programing 24 hours/7 days. (Are there even any of those left?)

"How about a cable channel that sticks with its theme?"

Heh. That'll be the day. When I was in Omaha last summer and going through the hotel's crappy cable system (damn, wish I'd done a write-up!) I saw live-action programming being run on Cartoon Network. Cartoon Network. No, not stop-motion using dolls or shaped lumps of clay. (Presumably) real, living, breathing human beings.

Looks like Cartoon Network's developing MTV Syndrome now, too. Can you imagine the discussion 15 years from now, "gee, remember back when they used to have cartoons on Cartoon Network?"

Drug TV, all drug ads all the time
Roadkill channel
Wheelie TV (programming about and for disability and the physically challenged lifestyle and wheelchair athletic coverage)

Seriously, does this one not exist already, maybe under another name?

I think there are several on DirecTV and Dish Network. At least I'd know to skip them. ::)

Yep. You are correct.

In fact, Time Warner Cable here in L.A. also just happens to have a channel of the all-infomercial variety: Leased Access, on digital channel 165.

Anyone else have cable with a channel or channels with wall-to-wall infomercials, be it Time Warner Cable, Xfinity, Brighthouse or whatever?

Yes, and you don't even have to play Monopoly to get it. It's available free and unscrambled over the air 24 hours/7 days, and there's probably at least one in every half-decent sized market. It's known, of course, as "the local ION affiliate".

File this under the ridiculous but probably true...

Wasn't there talk of doing an all police pursuit channel back in the 90s when police pursuits were at their "highest"?

Lets revive the format!
