Channels I would like to see made

As for shows that straddled two decades (for example, Full House, which premiered in 1987 and ended in 1995), the episodes from the 80s and the 90s could be on the appropriate decade's channel.

Thoughts?

Yes. Here's mine. The Brady Bunch premiered in September 1969 and ran until 1974. Which decade channel would air the small handful of 1960's Brady eps?

70's, of course. The majority of episodes were produced in the 70's.

Now if they premiered in September 1967 and ended in March 1972, that's a toughie!

I'm still waiting for The Scenery Channel. ;)

On a more serious note, I'd be happy with BBC World News and CNN International -- in that order.

Actually a scenery channel is not a bad idea. No different than some stations airing a burning fireplace on Christmas Day. For office workers cooped up in a windowless environment or those who are city dwellers living in apartments it might be nice. Has to be in HD though. And how do you segue into commercials without killing the mood?

I was thinking of a British channel. There are many great old UK series which have not been seen in years such as "Danger Man" and "The Avengers" or comedy shows like "The Goon Show" and "To The Manor Born."

The Worship Network, if anybody still can get it on their TVs, has many scenery pix.

Also a subchannel of LP ch DT 43 in Miami is showing "still frame" scenery phtos, but no audio!!

Another toughie would be episodes of GUNSMOKE which ran from 1955-75. Three decades there.

Before they became, "SyFy", I always thought they should start "The Classic Sci-Fi Channel". I am just waiting for the WWE to buy out SyFy and transform that channel into "The WWE Channel".

I think there are several on DirecTV and Dish Network. At least I'd know to skip them. ::)

Yep. You are correct.

In fact, Time Warner Cable here in L.A. also just happens to have a channel of the all-infomercial variety: Leased Access, on digital channel 165.
Comcast has 'em too. Only they're below Channel 23 (MTV) except for one that (I think) is on Channel 119 in some parts of town.

Cheers :D

Same with M*A*S*H which ran from roughly 1975-1983

There should be either a NASCAR Network or a second "SPEED Channel".

The NASCAR Network would have "Race Hub" as their "Sportscenter" type show, and the rest of the time would be filled with Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series, Camping World Truck Series, K&N Pro East/West Series, Canadian Tire Series (via TSN), Corona Mexico Series, Whelen Modified (North) Tour, Whelen Southern Modified Tour, any other NASCAR events or original NASCAR related programming like NASCAR Smarts either live or tape delay.

When you take NASCAR away from SPEED, they can also show Pinks All Out, Pass Time, Bullrun, and all other original stuff, and the flagship show would be "The Speed Report". As far as racing action, they would have Formula 1, GP2, FIM Motocross, AMA Supercross/Motocross, the IZOD IndyCar Series, the Indy Lights Series, Rolex Grand-Am Series, American Le Mans Series, etc...

I think SPEED 2 would definitely come in handy when you have the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the not currently airing Rolex 24 at Daytona. (Rolex 24 coverage picks back up in about eight or nine hours.) They could show Le Mans and the Rolex 24 IN THEIR ENTIRETY!!! Sure, the network would have to have three or fur breaks during each hour, and maybe do selected hours commercial free, but at least you'd have flag to flag coverage!!!

"I was thinking of a British channel. There are many great old UK series which have not been seen in years such as 'Danger Man' and 'The Avengers' or comedy shows like 'The Goon Show' and 'To The Manor Born.'"

Already been done:
-BBC Americas
-PBS affiliates. "PBS" = "Primarily British Shows".

I'm referring to the old ITC stuff from the 60's-70's that was shown primarily on commercial TV. Shows like "Danger Man" (Secret Agent in the US, "The Prisoner", "The Saint" and a host of other shows. The channel would also include the Themes TV stuff some of which was on PBS but has long since been retired and not renewed for airing. Even classic films from the Ealing Studios era would be great.

With the exception of the Themes TV shows, none of this programming has ever been on PBS (actually, I take that back. There was a program which showed and analyzed each episode of "The Prisoner" many years ago on PBS).

Personally, I'd like to see decades channels for classic TV.

A 50s channel, for shows like I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, and any other shows from that decade (assuming they still exist).
A 60s channel, for shows like Gilligan's Island, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Andy Griffith, etc.
A 70s channel, for shows like All in the Family, The Bionic Woman, Charlie's Angels, etc.
An 80s channel, for shows like Small Wonder, Alf, Facts of Life, 21 Jump Street, Knight Rider, etc.
A 90s channel, for shows like 3rd Rock from the Sun, Veronica's Closet, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, etc. (any of these old enough to be classics, yet?)
A 2000s channel, for shows like The Bernie Mac Show, Malcolm in the Middle, etc. (again, same question as that about 90s shows)

As for shows that straddled two decades (for example, Full House, which premiered in 1987 and ended in 1995), the episodes from the 80s and the 90s could be on the appropriate decade's channel.

Thoughts?

I'd had a similar thought for TV Land to do multiple channels by decade, although I'd put the 50's and 60's together because of the lack of 50's material, or even two channels with a dividing line of 1975 or 1980. but since TV Land has gone the opposite direction, that's not very likely. Now I'll be happy if ME-TV becomes available in my area.
"Bewitched" should have Dick York episodes on the 60s channel and Dick Sargent episodes on the 70s channel.

I prefer Sargent. York always looks so mean. Sargent's treatment of Endora has so much more appeal for me because his tone of voice is almost nice while his words are so cruel.
