Just put 2005 in front of the station's website. For example, Z100.com is 2005.z100.com.

CC's new web designs...

ok, so then in 4+ months they have to change them all AGAIN to 2006? What's the point?

The re-design is nice but the year thing???

Re: CC's new web designs...

I think that's just so they can display the new designs with a hidden link before going live.

Big deal. So they added or renamed a server.

And they did it to a bunch of servers at once so...

(1) It was easy to remember / plan / execute.

(2) Geeks like us would make a big deal out of it and get them free publicity for it.

I think it's so they can have the link to the listen live page hidden from prying eyes, which is why it's now part of a macromedia image. No more right clicking or looking at the source HTML

I don't get it. Why would they do that? Right now the link is javascript...

Well, I do remember in a yahoo group about streaming radio, one of CC's VP's was mentioning that they eventually wanted to initiate a pay model where $4.95 a month would allow a high speed stream to either a specific brand of station (all the Kiss's or Mix's or whatever) or based on specific markets. Other than that, i can't remember anything else that was mentioned (search yahoo groups, the posts are still there)

What better way to implement the change? Get everyone hooked on the current streams then change it to pay only, and you'll get some upset, but many will jump on it if the price isn't too off the wall.

I figure the change to flash is so they can change to this system without people figuring out the new direct links, of course if they did everything in a secure system like some of the japanese pay stations I've seen they wouldn't have to worry about hiding urls as the links wouldn't open without being verifyed as payed anyway.
