CHICAGO RADIO 2011: AN OUTLOOK

Why the Score and not WBBM? Seems like CBS could get much better ratings and ROI on an FM simulcast of WBBM. Such an arrangement would be a monster in the ratings for many years to come - even 25-44, with much better demos than 780 gets now. The Score on FM wouldn't pull those numbers.

You guys need to get your thinking outside of that WSCR "box". WBBM on FM is less 'risky' for CBS Radio than WSCR.

Putting WBBM on FM would make more sense to me than WSCR. WBBM's listeners come from all walks of life. WSCR appeals mainly to sports fans. Besides, then I wouldn't have to listen to that darned hiss in the background. Of course, they could always get a clue and turn off the IBOC, but I'm not holding my breath...

put bbm new's hd1 put back jmk oldies on hd2. you can get wjmk oldies on the internet radio! ! why not here in chicago ? have a great day and happy new year.o ya how many more station will the score take down-wait-wjjd-wmaq-wjmk==oldies now fresh 105.9? ? ?

Could they use WBBM-HD?

Not on the main channel I don't think.

Neither on the main channel nor any subchannel. The call letters for a HD2/HD3/HD4 subchannel are the same as for the main HD1/analog signal. There is no such thing as a -HD suffix in any service.

I am confused (more than unusual). Is the HD channel number required at all then? In Atlanta before WSB took 95.5 and started using the legal muffed WSBB Doraville then the WSB AM ID at the top of the hour, they were using 97.1’s HD #2 and their legal IB was: muffed WSRV HD2 Gainesville then the regular WSB AM ID.

Why not change the call letters of "B96"? They don't use call letters anyway-- they go by "B96". Put the WBBM-FM calls on 105.9 and use some other call on 96.3-- maybe something with a B in it-- because I think those call letters are meaningless to their listeners anyway.

It would make it easier to ID both the FM and AM by the same calls. If this does happen what calls could B 96 use? WBZW I think is avaiable as CBS used to have those calls on B 94 in Pittsburgh which is now KDKA-FM 93.7 The Fan

WBNS (W B Ninety Six) probably would've been great, but those are taken from a station in Columbus. I do think the WBBM calls sound great for B96, but when I first heard the calls WBBM-FM, I thought they were probably a Jack FM or classic hits station, as KCBS-FM LA (Jack) and WCBS-FM NYC (classic hits) share the calls with their sister TV station.

WBZW is another great choice though...

Ummmm, you know that's phonetically kinda....W-Bozo.

At least in Chicago, where Bozo loomed large, WBZW is not likely.
