Chicago Radio Legends.

John Doremus was also on WAIT and was the voice of United Airlines audio programming for some time.

Wow - those were the days.

(Sinatra; "Try a little Tenderness")
"The warmth and tenderness of the world's most beautiful music on WAIT."

Do you remember when Dan Sorkin did mornings on WAIT for a short time in 1964? This was after he left WCFL
and Sorkin always played jazz. So WAIT let him play jazz and their slogan at the time was "The world's most beautiful music" except on Dan Sorkin's morning show.

Actually, I FORGOT Dan Sorkin. He was VERY clever. He was a bud of Wally Phillips. They spoke on the air on occasion.

I do not remember his WAIT show.

He was only with WAIT for less than a year before he left for California.
Dan helped launch Bob Newhart's career while hosting his morning show on WCFL.
Sorkin is still alive and well and living in California.

Thank you, radioaircheck. Clark was also on WIND doing evening talk for many years. Personable, versatile, and known as...'one class act' in the biz.

I'm glad you mentioned Clark Weber, he truly is a great one. I really liked his morning show on WJJD. I remember
after he left there and did 7-9 on Friday mornings on WAIT. He's great and so were those stations, especially WJJD!

I definitely miss WJJD.

It had several great incarnations. I liked it when Clark Weber was there in the morning in the late 80's and early 90's along with Bob Hale, Bernie Allen, Bob Dearborn, Hugh Copeland and Adrian (can't remember his last name). There's no station like it anymore that has that music and personalities as well.

Did you know for a short period of time Bob Dearborn was the morning man at AM 740 in Toronto about 4 or 5 years
ago? I just happened to be listening really early in the morning in the winter and he came on at 4:30 AM Chicago time, after
the all night jukebox. If you liked WJJD you would probably like this station, they play a lot of great old songs. Most nights
you can hear them pretty well in Chicago or you can listen online at www.am740.ca
