Did you see the latest 6+ ratings for Miami-Fort Lauderdale? The 3 CHR's in town are neck and neck in 6+
Power 96 is down -- to a 3.6. Y100 is also down -- to a 3.5 and Hits 97.3 is more or less flat (up a tenth of a point) to 3.3
They rank #10, 11 & 12
My thoughts on the stations: Lately I've been liking the music on Power more. They are playing some older songs, especially in their music mix hours. Today, I heard a Beastie Boys song..and not at noon during the lunch mix! Very refreshing! And good for getting slightly older demos.
Y sounds stale to me. Literally. There was that new David Guetta/Sia tune playing on both Hits and Y at the same time and 97.3 sounded noticeably better in my car. Y was flat. I'm betting Elvis Duran does well in the morning for Y100. He's been on a LONG time.
As far as 97.3 goes, I think the station sounds really good. The music mix seems a bit fresher than the other stations. (Sure, every other song seems to be either Bieber or Taylor Swift, but I hear some new songs that I'm not familiar with, too.) But I'm NOT a fan of DJ Laz. Nothing exciting to me when I listen to his show. He doesn't seem to fit the idea of a CHR to me. He seems to slow things down for me.
Do you think South Florida can continue to handle 3 CHR's? Who do you think will blink first (read: format change) ?
