Chris Baker out at KTRH and KPRC?????????????????

As for W&J, I don't know one person who listens to them. Seriously. I guess I may run with a different gang of people (in my 30's here, most people I know listen to NPR, iPods, satellite radio, or the Internet in the morning).

As for Chris Baker -- I missed the Chris Baker of 2-3 years ago. He was funnier then, loved the Friday reverse trivia, and seemed to be more unique. I have a feeling that management dumbed down his show. That's sad.

Walton and Johnson on a news/talk station? Why don't they take some of the money from cutbacks and hire a PD with some experience in the format? Oh, yeah, never mind. It's Cheap Channel.

We have now determined that the listener base for the MOJO 950 is east of Downtown, most likely heavy pockets in the industrial areas of Channelview, Baytown and Mont Belvue. As long as KPRC concentrates sales efforts on Injury Lawyers, Aspestos Case Lawyers, Localized Dental Care Offices, Gun Shops & Shows and Trailer Home Lots they might get somewhat close to break even on operations. There's a whole host of sponsorship opportunities for them. What's the big outcry?????

As I said earlier, what you guys say and think here is of virtually no value. The numbers are going up, the revenue is going up, nuff said.

OK Walter, you say such positives. Let's see if The MOJO 950 is in existence one year from now. I predict it won't be. I also predict Michael Berry won't be there either. One year is a long time and it probably won't go that long. If you're working there you should get a reality check at some point and make sure your resume is updated. If you're not working there how do you know their revenue is going up? HMMMM.

As long as the ratings and revenues go up it will survive, that is the nature of this business and you know it as well as I do. If it makes money they care very little what it sounds like. That IS radio.

I just posted Bobby Chaffin's and the adguy's comments about our office listening to W & J in the staff breakroom. Our office consists of 17 people. Of the 17, 15 have college degrees or higher. Our office is located in the Champions area of 1960, not Baytown/East Houston. We can hear KPRC 950 any time, loud and clear. Only one of the staff rides a motorcycle and its a $30,000 customized Harley for the weekends. We are all guilty of being Republicans. I guess by most standards we would be considered successful. The point is, we find W & J entertaining, funny and expressing our basic points of view on politics and life. We're just worried that they might repeat a lot of material during the 6 hour shift they will be working.

I wrote a e-mail voicing my opinion to the program director at ktrh. I was surprised that he wrote back so soon stating he could not discuss these matters and to give the new line up a chance. He was just blowing smoke up my ass...I'm a firefighter and for everything Chris did for us and police officers is there nothing we can do for him. boycott clear channel

I have to say I will be sorry to see Chris go. I enjoyed his shows. As far as him being a comedian, I was never really impressed. I really couldn't care less that Hunt is gone. She was too left wing for me...blah... I also think it is funny that alot of people are knocking on W&J. These guys are smart, funny and have been around forever. They beat Howard Stern out of this market. They were voted by chronicle readers best morning show in town. Thoses guys are the best. What other shows in this market are syndicated? But, on the other hand six and a half hours may be too much for these guys to be on. I think at 10am I have had about enought W&J for one day. But hey im just a non-NPR listening motorcycle mechanic dude.

I too thought Baker was very good and entertaining most of the time. No doubt KTRH blew this one. Now let me correct you about your W&J comments.

First, Howard Stern never really made it to this market and W&J had nothing to do with it. Stern was going to be the morning drive nationally sydicated personality on one of Infinity's or CC's stations around 1998 when he cracked on the late singer phenom Selena. That was what preempted Stern from entering this market. By the way that was before W&J showed up I believe. Infinity did bring Stern to the market and aired him on 650 with about enough power to fuel a birthday candle. That was about a year before he defected to Sirius. The only reason Infinity put him on was to fulfill a sydication contract with Stern that guaranteed him coverage in the top 10 markets. Most people in Houston probably never knew he was even on here.

Second, they are sydicated, but the sydication deal was supposedly done by the local GM here and took a piece of the deal to get them on. It's very shady and the fact that they are "sydicated" doesn't make them good.

Third, what Chronicle poll are you talking about? I'm a Chron subscriber and never recall seeing that poll and I doubt they were voted best anything. Maybe best "shock Jocks". There are no others in the market. Maybe Dean & Rog would be considered "shock", but they are far more talented and entertaining. I've tried several times over the years to listen to W&J and I can never get past a few minutes. I don't see their humor and I love funny shows. Example, Stern, who you claim to have been knocked out by these nobodies is not only funny, but a REAL professional radio personality. And I think his half billion dollar contract with Sirius speaks for itself. What do think W&J are making????

Hey, it's just my opinion and I'll eat my words if they are still around on KPRC a year from now.

Well, there is hope that this fustercluck that is Clear Channel Houston will implode of its own doing, taking W&J, Michael Berry, and the rest of the hapless souls still employed there with it.

Radio MOJO is going to end up being Radio NOMO. Don't even get me started on Ken Hoffman and his show. I can't imagine Chris Baker would even think about heading over to that disaster. Houston talk radio is imploding.

What really counts here folks is the ratings! I'm looking at the new 12 plus Houston ratings for October and I think Clear Channel will finally have second thoughts about having an inexperienced Operations Manager as Michael Berry screwing things up. And look how crappy KTRH & KPRC are now doing.

October 12 plus numbers show KTRH in a whopping 18th place while KPRC hangs in there at 26th place.

WOW - Even JACK beats KPRC. Good luck Clear Channel, Michael Berry, and especially the morning losers
W & J. And Good luck to the Houston Clear Channel General Manager - Watch out - The future owners are looking over YOUR shoulder!

I called KTRH this afternoon during the absolutly horrible Berry show. I mean really a show dedicated to Binny Hinn and that task force of losers.....I expressed my displeasure with the whole situation and emailed [email protected] and I got the standard..sorry can't talk about this message. I am sure that this is some kind of conspiracy because Berry calls the shots...lets Baker go and then extends HIS RIDICULOUS SHOW to Baker's timeslot? I would like to have some of what he is smokin....must be some good wacky tobaccy! W&J....got enough of them back in the day on KLOL didn't find them intresting other than two guys making an intire cast of about 10-12 people. I didn't always like Bakers takes but it sure was better than sitting in 290 traffic for the 1 hr 20 min ride out to Fairfield listening to Berry or better yet FM programming. Guess that the only good thing that Cheap Channel has anymore is Good Ole Milo. When he steps aside for good KTRH will cease to exist in my concious. I assume that as ratings fall CC will boot the puppet i mean the incredible non talent known as Michael Berry and get another Dancing Chicken. Berry should stick to what made him in the first place..real estate...Mr Berry you have no clue on what you are doing. Bet I could fill your job, thing is I wouldn't like working with Cheap Channel. ??? :( :'(

Management is making many bad calls. One of KTRH's most dedicated newsman was called on the carpet yesterday by Roger Hudson for being late. Hudson failed to note that this individual worked on assignment in Laredo over the weekend, as well as election coverage the night before. A little slack would be in order here for one of the better reporters in the building. Another shining example of how Hudson ruined KOA's news operation while in Denver. Obviously Clear Channel Houston is looking for the least talented to fill it's management corps.

Bobby I don't if you noticed as you were tearing into those PPM's numbers but since the very first look via the PPM's AM's have performed poorly across the board. Finding KTRH in 18 is far from surprising and KPRC is probably up from the previous month. Jack won't make it here for the same reason GOW radio will fail, the signal sucks. Tried listening to Jack today in SW Houston, horrible signal

Incredibly stupid move by CC.
I'm running out of reasons to tune in... only if I need a Rush fix will I tune in to 740. 950 has been deprogrammed from my radio presets.

I guess its back to Country or Oldies. Maybe Dan Patrick on the drive home...

I'd rather choke on my own vomit than listen to Michael Berry, by the way.
