Chris Baker out at KTRH and KPRC?????????????????

Insane move to fire Baker. Berry has 2 years to get his mayoral gig in swing ( White will be term-limited out). During this time, his name and sometimes face will be in the public view. His dismissal of the "name and voice" of both stations, i.e Baker, leaves Berry as the chosen one. His motives are ALL political. His lesson plan taken directly from State Senator Dan Patrick. Thanks a bunch for destroying two good stations and some good talk hosts all for personal greed and gain. His ship will sink fast. I've already shut off both stations and go 700 AM till 11 am, and 1070 AM . Go to the 950 website. I thought I was through my teenage years! What a joke.

What a shame. I liked Chris when you actually could hear his show instead of news and traffic every 7 min. followed by an extensive commercial break. CC screwed up his show when they moved him from 950 over to 740 a few years ago. I think he lost a lot of listeners due to the interruptions.

Love him or hate him...Baker worked himself to the bone to put on the best radio show that he could.
I'm so very lucky to have been a part of his show for almost 3 years. I know many won't listen to 740 due to the change. However, I want to thank everyone VERY MUCH for listening and making us part of your day....even if it was only here and there.
Watch out for debris and keep rockin out there!
Thank you, again~Eddie Barton

AAAAAAAAHHHHH.... what are we gonna do without the name that debris game... That was a good bit.

Instead of road debris, it is beginning to look like alot of career debris out there.

I was kind of fond of "People you'll never hang out with" as well.

Poops

What we have gained here.
1. Ms. Hunt is a has been
2. cc Houston Cluster on verge of collapse
3. A unanimous opinion on this board on the demise of the Bakker show
4. How messed up a cluster can get without one of us at the helm.(knowlege)
5. Who we wont be voting for in 2 years for mayor.
6.Martiney may never work in radio again.

I am sure there is more!

I LOVED people you'll never hang out with. I am not a pro, but just a huge fan. I only know what I liked and listened to. I have been, told too many times, I don't reflect the views of the collective listening audience. When they dumped Glenn Beck, I heard, Houston didn't listen to him ( I did); When they dumped Pat Gray I heard the same thing. I'm still here looking for the things I want to listen to, but they don't listen to me....... The suits don't give a rat's ass what I want to hear. What, exactly, do they care about?

Your gue$$ i$ a$ good a$ mine.

Program directors know that programming changes will create unrest among some listeners. But they also know that eventually everyone will get over it and move on and the new programming will eventually find its own, and new audience.

A suggestion-If there is a radio talk show host that you have a strong opinion about (positive or negative) and you want your opinion to be heard by someone who really matters, contact the advertisers whose ads air during that show. Contact all the advertisers on that station. Tell them what you think. Call the advertisers and tell them you would like to send an email to the president of the company. Then send a polite email epressing your opinion.

It takes time to do this, but if everyone who is bitching about the cancellation of Chris Baker's radio show would email just one of his advertisers, heck, they may rally and sponsor his show on another, non CC, station.

Remember, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

Did you all see this on Craigslist?
Was Baker ever a "20 year vet of the NYC talk wars"?? I don't know...so just here it is:
from craigslist:

1,000 dollar reward for finding me a talk radio host job

Twenty year vet of the NYC talk wars looking for new opportunity. Give me a lead that leads to a job, get reward. Please send for my air check and resume. Thanks..

Location: Houston
Compensation: 1,000

I don't think Baker worked in New York for 20 years. Dominick Brascia at KOLE in Port Arthur has worked there, and probably needs another gig soon.

Yeah - but all the money $$$$$ people are friends of Michael Berry!

If this is true, that's all the more reason to contact the advertisers. Advertisers should know what real listeners are thinking. If you are turning off a station due to the content, let the advertisers know.

If an advertiser is not happy with the response they are getting from their radio ads, the first person they call is their sales rep at the station. The sales rep is going to spin it any way they can to keep the advertiser from pulling their ads. Wouldn't it be nice if radio advertisers had another source of information...like actual listeners. (And not Arbitron.)

This gives me an idea for a web site. A consumer-oriented site where the radio listening public could vote on what stations they listen to, what shows they like best, which advertisers they patronize because they heard their radio ads, etc. It would be very unscientific, but it would give listeners a much needed, real voice and enable them to be heard. Heck, it would be just as unscientific as boards, forums or blogs and people seems to pay some attention to those.

It is sad that there is nothing I want to listen to on Houston radio. I spent the weekend in Chicago. What a difference.

KTRH Programming:

the left is evil
the left hates families
the left hates freedom
the left hates the troops
the left hates God
BEWARE THE CLINTONS!
(Repeat for 12 hours)
:D

Isn't the above true for most CC stations or those that carry conservative talk?? If you disagree with them, you are EVIL!!! (Thankfully I have mind of my own and think for myself....I dont need Rush with his pills or Hannity with his mouth to tell me what to think......and no I dont listen to Air America either :)

I was told this was a good board that would allow me to keep update on radio, boy was I misled. You guys sound like a bunch of out of work liberal radio "has beens" that are angry at the world.

Once your done calling all the advertisers, see if you have any time left to get a life!!

Hey Easy Money,

I see where you got your name. You obviously haven't had to work for anything or you'd understand.

Calling everyone you disagree with a "liberal"? what, are you rush limbaugh?

sorry you were misled. go back to monitoring your stock portfolio, and we'll while away our pitiful lives here without you.

by the way, we were here long before you, and we'll be here after your gone. thanks for your insight.

Hi Easy Money,

Here's a thread that might be more in line for keeping you updated.

http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,84583.0.html

Welcome to the board.

I do happen to like Rush Limbaugh and I am proud that I have a nice stock portfolio. I have always been open-minded to change and willing to look at things with a different perspective, which is probably why I enjoy that luxury.

If you and some of your buddies would come out of the dark ages with your way of thinking, you may be able to enjoy some of these same luxuries.

You may also want to change your "glass is always half empty" attitude. I'm sure you and Truthsayer are buddies. Probably sit around all day talking about the good ole days and how wonderful it used to be. Wake up and realize it will soon be 2008, not 1988 !!
