Chris Fedor, formerly of WKNR

Rizzo announced today that he got a message from Fedor that he has been hired by "down the dial" to work part time and on their draft coverage.

That could mean WTAM or 92.3 The Fan. Any idea of where, exactly, Fedor will be working and in what capacity and when, if ever, will it be officially announced??

Curious that Rizzo made the announcement, Fedors former station.

It would have to be The Fan.

WTAM and/or WMMS would air Browns Network coverage of the draft (depending on if the Indians were playing that night).

If 92.3 is picking up Fedor, then it would be as a producer and update guy only...the "smartest guy in the room" schtick won't work with Kiley/Booms, Baskin/Phelps, or Bull/Fox, and Ken Carmen doesn't need a co-host.

Wherever he lands, it would only be fair for people to listen to him at his new position and see how he does before commenting good or bad.

The News Herold reported that The Fan has indeed hired Fedor.

They also mentioned that The Rizzo Show is number one among Sunday night sports shows on the local TV.

92.3 can't possibly be that desperate to hire him. Who made Chris Fedor a draft expert anyway?

He was called that by KNR because he could read Mel Kuiper's articles on ESPN.com.

I can't see him having a huge role on the Fan. He is actually a decent producer/update guy, but in no way should he be a focal point of a show.

Let's see how it goes...who knows, maybe the experience of being fired has humbled him.

But if he goes on 92.3 and pulls the same act he did on 850, I can't see him lasting too long over there.

It's hard for me to believe that the folks at "The Fan" would be unfamiliar with Mr. Fedor. Listening to the competition is a normal thing to do. It does say something positive about Chris that he landed on his feet and got another gig so quickly. There are a number of quality people out there. The play-by-play guys who do local games on AM930 WEOL come to mind.

Thats it. 90% of the local content on WKNR comes from the "producers " downloading copy from ESPN and othe web sites. Fedor is lucky. He has no talent. He might find a home over there, but 92.3 pretending he is a draft expert of sorts is laughable.

Congrats to Fedor, looks like he recently updated his Twitter profile and says he is not only working for Cleveland.com but also as update guy at The Fan. Seems like a couple of good opportunities for him!

Thank goodness for minumum wage!

If Fedor tones down the nonsense and is actually serious about talking sports then good for him. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance. Let's see how he does.

His opinion is so valued at minimum wage ! LOL What a joke.
He's lucky his daddy is a doctor and can carry him as a trust fund kid...kinda like Erin Goldhammer...except I think Erins daddy is in a whole different league.

Minimum wage works when you have a trust fund.
;)

I don't want to knock the guy and I wish him lick. But, calling him a draft expert is comical. Draft experts don't play well on local radio.

I never found him to be entertaining or someone that keeps my from switching to another station when I am in Cleveland or going to another website when in the office and online.

Question for you guys.........how much does an "update guy" make on Cleveland radio?

In fact what do you think the hosts in Cleveland make.

I assume Triv is in a league of his own with over $250 K annually
Rizzo has to be making around $100K (I know he owns part of the station, so i don't know how that factors in).
People like Brinda/Hooley/Roda/Reghi are probably in $50K range.
And the kids you work at WKNR have to be in $25-30K range.

I would guess the Fan pay more because they have CBS radio behind it.

You're close on a few and way off on most.

Triv makes about 100K a year. He gets lots of perks like free car, new windows, food trade, stuff like that. Anytime you hear him endorse anything, he's likely getting that product free. If he made $250,000.00 a year CC would have cut him loose years ago. He stays employed because his salary is not all that high. John Lannigan is the only talent in Cleveland radio that may be earning over 200K a year.

Brinda/Hooley/Roda/Reghi earn closer to 40K than 50K. They get thier fair shares of perks from adverstising trade.

The kids who do get paid there, like the producers who talk on air occasionally, are in the 16K or 17K a year range. They have a ton of interns who work for free. They most likely pay their part timers 8 bucks an hour. They prefer to have " interns " instaed of having to pay part timers.

Rizzo most likely is making around 60K. The whole " ownership " thing is a charade that basically means he gets a bonus at the end of the year based on a small percentage of the yearly net profit of WKNR.

CBS doesn't want to pay. The entire business has been on a cut staff and reduce pay for talent
since the Telecom Bill was passed. Talent in Cleveland used to be paid well....like 20 years ago!Live DJs were on in all dayparts. That all changed with deregulation.

The guys you mention above by names are all damn lucky to have jobs and they know damn well they are all expendible. None of them are making big money except for Lannigan.

Way off (I know second-hand). Remember that Rizzo decided against taking a pay cut at Fox 8 because of how much he could make at WKNR. He was making WELL over 6 figures at Fox 8 towards the end. The pay cut probably still had him around 6 figures (the going rate for a full-time local featured sportscaster on the news in a market this size.

If Rizzo only made 60 (all relative of course) no way he wouldn't have taken the paycut at Fox 8.

Since most of the people on this board have never actually had a full time job in radio. (not a slam, many of you have said so in posts) how would you have any idea what these people are making?
My favorite line: I know it second hand.

and does it really matter?

A man's worth is not dictated by his W2.
