I was thinking that that would have been about right. It was also supposedly reissued during the late '80s reissue craze of about 1988 or 1989. Do you recall that, or was someone's memory fuzzy? I just know that it was not a hit during that timeframe.

I don't think it was ever a "hit", unless you're counting from some special alternative music chart.

It was a "hit" only with those in the alternative music scene, and it did fill the dance floor in clubs.

I don't recall any re-issues or re-releases.

I knew that it was never a "hit." I was wondering if anyone knew of any attempt at a reissue of it in the late '80s. I know for a fact that it was not a hit then, either.

I Melt With You, which of course is a good song to discuss in a thread about Chris Montez, was released as a single in 1983 and got to #78 on the Hot 100. Modern English recorded a new version in 1990 and that version did much better---it got to #76. They recorded a third version of the song for a 2011 film with the same title:
