My experience over the years with Christian CHR is that it indeed is more rock leaning than mainstream CHR/Pop... Personally, I'm definitely a fan of the format along with Christian AC... the one Christian CHR station I can listen to out here in So.Cal is called K-Life 89.5 (KLFF - San Luis Obispo)... they are a trimulcast along the Gold Coast of So.Cal... They have a wide variety in their playlist and they do include some songs/artists that would be considered Urban (Souljahz, some Stacie Orrico and Rachael Lampa). I also like that some stuff like the aforementioned Orrico, Relient K, Lifehouse, Switchfoot, MercyMe has crossed over to CHR/Pop over the past few years... I'm still amazed that Switchfoot went top 10 CHR/Pop mainstream with 2 songs off one album... Not even the legendary Michael W. Smith pulled off that feat...
I think Rachael Lampa, Bethany Dillon and Third Day have the most future "crossover potential" as they all seem to have creating the Christian CHR hit record down to a science...
Also, as I'm sure you know, Jars Of Clay and DC Talk made waves about 10-11 years ago at mainstream CHR/Pop with "Flood" and "Just Between You And Me"... both went top 15.
