CHRISTIAN MUSIC ON 95.7????

Well, I was really enjoying Scott shannon's true oldies on the 95.7 repeater, but seems now its Christian music....anyone know what the final plan is?? was the TOC just filler??? great now I can go back to WRWD (all Taylor Swift, all the time) and hear the same stuff over and over with truly bad DJ's ( with the exception of Paty I am reluctant to call them talent)....

need something new in The Hudson Valley....sucks....

 I also enjoyed listening to The True Oldies Channel. Even though canned and not something I would listen to every day. I was a frequent listener, and I will miss it. When they first started broadcasting WPLJ- HD2 the owners, DIGITAL RADIO BROADCASTING, INC.,BUD WILLIAMSON promoted the fact and Solicited sponsors For The True Oldies Channel in the Hudson Valley. . Perhaps he didn’t attract any and the fact that True Oldies Channel didn’t show in the ratings convinced him to let the frequency hog Religious stations use his repeaters. I noticed last night that it had been replaced on 95.7 & 94.3 by The Sound of Life WFGB, Kingston. I mean really how many freaking frequencies do we need that station on??! It comes in loud and clear in Hyde Park on the main channel 89.7 and weak on 89.3. Now add 95.7 & weak 94.3! Love it or hate it The True Oldies Channel offered something different. There ought to be so restrictions on the number and placement of translators. They were intended to fill in weak spots not blanket the spectrum so people can’t miss their Bible Thumping Crap. There are several other repeaters of various Christian Stations in Poughkeepsie 98.9 & 106.3 come to mind .I think 90.5 Hyde Park , though a terrible signal repeats 91.7 from Kingston which itself re-transmits 94.7 WFME ( also can be heard in Poughkeepsie although weakly )from New Jersey. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!

Too bad that the True Oldies Channel on 95.7 pulled the plug. I wish you should try WBPM for better rock music than CBS-FM. Randy Turnip does it best if they a few 90's music and some heavy rock elements to the station. It should better than the True Oldies Channel. It should play Def Leppard, AC/DC and Van Halen to the station.

Or if not, you should try Rewound Radio. The dentist started the internet radio station playing your favorite oldies from the 50's, 60's and 70's, run by Dr. Sniffen. You should check it out.
http://www.rewoundradio.com

Or, listen to WKNY on Saturdays with the oldies show with Warren Lawrence where he plays your favorite oldies from the 50's, 60's and 70's along with the doo-wop show from 4 PM to 6 PM.

Disney - (sigh) Ever since it’s inception you have done nothing but complain about Pamal’s WBPM. You said it should try to be more like WCBS-FM. I happen to agree with that part. Just a few weeks ago you said they were more like a Classic Rock station. Right again. You constantly deride -the PD who you call Randy Turnip. For years you have been pining for WBPM to flip back to B94 .So why the change. Do you remember what you posted yesterday? Perhaps you should go back and look. I almost thought perhaps somebody had hijacked your name, but from the bad grammar I know it’s you.
Actually I had been listening to both the True Oldies Channel and WBPM. TOC though not perfect was the only way to hear oldies on the air around here. I like to mix it up the Classic rock heard on WBPM or WPDH with the oldies. I had hoped that WBPM would do that ,but have accepted the fact it’s not going to happen.

WBPM doesn't even rate mentioning here with 0.9 in the last book. the programming and dj's are terrible. Gimme a break.....lt was great to have some professional programming on the TOC, and sombody who know the music, and a professional sounding dj.....once again the oldies format is up for grabs in the HV.....guess no one has the stones to try it , and put someone on there who knows the music. yep there's a market for oldies here...

oldies4ever ???

oldies4ever and disney-fanatic has to stop picking on WBPM 92.9 and Randy Turner. The station is a very nice station. Randy Turner does a very nice job progaming the station. The DJS are very good.

Roger- WBPM-the product stinks.the ratings stink. The music mix stinks. I'm surprised that the owner of the station will stand for an 0.9. Turner has dug his own cesspool and is now sinking to the bottom of it. When asked about programming 60's music like the beach boys and motown, he says that "nobody listens to that stuff anymore" Sure we'd rather hear Pink Floyd or blue oyster cult. Not. If you want to hear that crap you can turn on WPDH and hear it plus repitition of it. This guy couldn't run a 5th graders birthday party. TOC is the only fm station feed that has it together.

oldies4ever ;D

oldies4ever,

If you can not say any thing nice about WBPM, Randy Turner, and his staff then do not say it. You also have to keep in mind that Randy Turner has a boss that tells him what to do.

This board is all about opinion and I'm voicing mine. I still don't understand how disney can use the vegetable name for turner when I got thrown off the board twice for using it. No wonder nobody posts here anymore...

True Oldies Channel will be back in a few days (right from the mouth of SS himself). Unfortunately it will back on AM only. I listened to TOC on 94.1 but it was never broadcast in stereo.

Actually, the translators are all stereo - its the feed on the PLJ-HD2 that is mono. I guess leftover from when TOC was on PLJ's HD3.

True Oldies on WEOK sounds interesting.... especially if Cumulus were to put WEOK back on WPDH hd 2 . I recall Radio Disney on there HD 2 signal last year

Don't forget the bible thumping 103.9 in Newburgh.

True Oldies was great to listen to while passing through on the Taconic. TOC is on 105.7 somewhere. It comes in around the Brewster area.

And the holy roller stuff is one 95.7 today. Phooey. The only good thing about going to the Inlaws on Noxon Rd was hearing TOC. Today was a bad day

Actually 103.9 is license to Beacon and it's northeast public radio, which is on 107.7 in Newburgh too.

At least sound of life and Star 99.1 is not on 94.1 AND 106.5 in Newburgh like it was for many many years

Interesting move....95.9 WVOS is now on 95.7 in Poughkeepsie

Though not true oldies.... but close enough with Classic hits ::)
