Christian station KVTT signing off after 34 years

I feel bad for those who are losing their gigs.

I'd love to see someone do something different. An all weather-traffic station would be great for this market. Kind of like what Sirius/XM has, except that it would be done here by local people. Keep it simple with a low overhead and let people know they can get it without satellite radio and I bet they'd tune in enough to make it profitable.

We need an all business/finance station!

I'd love to see an all traffic & weather station. With the ability of the computer, updates from various sources could be voicetracked in almost real time, meaning a fairly low overhead. Would work better on a 24/7 frequency, but you have to start somewhere. I wanted to do this in Houston, but I felt we needed more traffic updates than once every 30 minutes...every 10 would be more like it.

Too bad about KVTT. I remember when it was the outlet for Elkins Institute after they moved from 102.9. Later, Eldred Thomas ran KVTT as an all Christian format but after a nice upgrade, I think KVTT finally took their place in the DFW Market.

Will they sell it or just leave it dark. Surely somebody could put something on it. How about a KAAM format only done the right way?

They don't own it...it is leased time. I would guess the owners will be leasing it out to the next group willing to buy time or go back to temporarily filling it with music. Between the time Biz Radio leased it and KVTT leased it, it filled time with a classic country format and then a Tejano format.

We already got enough of them as it is.

I think there should be a Big Band/Swing & Adult Standards format on that station. You know, bring it WAY back.

Occasionally I have wondered whether sometimes God removes His perceived presence in order that some may go in search of Him, even if He is only focused on one person in the situation.

That is what I thought about when I saw that the station was signing off after 34 years. In the whole scheme of things, i.e. our daily delights and struggles, happiness and heartache the only thing that really matters is eternity and having the Son of God in one's heart, which can only be accomplished through sincere invitation by faith which cannot be seen or heard, and is so easy that it is difficult for many, because it is not some grand feat for which to take credit.

Some pay to play on the air, while others pay to pray with the voice from the pulpit who is on the air. Salvation is a free gift from the Almighty that cannot be taken away, given away or redistributed. Some get so hung up in the programming that they cannot get away to see the creation of the One Whom they are seeking, or read for themselves from His Word.

Agreed. Actual CLASSIC Country instead of the current Country, which is just Rock music with a hokey lyric about "thinking my tractor's sexy" or "checking my girl for ticks" added. Enough already.

Bring on Merle.

Or bring on Hank Sr.

"It's a Christian station, and we are in, to many opinions, a post-Christian nation," Price says. "Perhaps there's just less interest than there should be. We do have other Christian stations in the market. None with [our] unique format -- I think every one of them is unique, but for the most part folks lump us all together and feel like, 'Well, this is just another Christian radio station.' But for those to whom this was a life blood in their spiritual development and their discipleship, it's a loss to the kingdom. I really do regret it. ... But when time is up, time is up. To everything, there is a season."

I would agree there is a difference between DFW's "Christian" stations

As far as ideas for new formats I would vote for a classic christian rock station 8)

If God had wanted this station to work ...it would still be on the air.

So it is HIS will that it go away.

Amazing how that argument works both ways! :D
