Christine Craft Out at KSAC

hi interloper...i've told you ..I agree about full spectrum radio(like KGO)....but I disagree when you suggest I didn't offer dessert...Where were you when we told Alberto Gonzalez.."hey Alberto...Habeas This baby!!!. This was right to his face at my old law school..McGeorge. or the time we did a protest at the Christian bookstore for selling the "left behind" videos that call for the killing of non-Christians who won't convert( I was in my Blessed Virgin Mary outfit..complete with lifelike spawn and one of the three kings..How about the fake coronation of George Bush by an Saudi sheik on the steps of the Capitol along with 500 friends(including a pink elephant and two drunk college girls as the Bush daughters!! Ah yes..and there was the dessert of Snow White and Tinkerbell at Ch. 10 to protest the inaccuracies of the Disney/ ABC "Path to 9/11) and oh so many more....all dessert really..For the two thousand who showed up to dis Bush in West Sacramento...how about the marvelous, professionally printed banners..."Worst Ever" .....MY listeners(well now ex listeners) will tell you that we had lots of fun...plenty of dessert...more..more more...

best, cc

I caught some of that, and what I am talking about has little to do with your show.

It is the overall approach of your station...it is ALL BASED ON POLITICS. Successful N/T stations offer more of the full service...News, Sports, other shows, etc...

KSAC offered some of that, but so little and everyone knows that AA based stations are all just that, politics.

For those stations to win, the have to be more diverse (not neccessarily in view) but in scope of offerings. There then you can draw in more of a mass appeal audience, THEN give them the politics and see if they stay, convert etc...

Salem stations don't do well, and they offer politics of the right...same issue (different views) that AA stations struggle with.

We are in "broad" casting, not narrow casting, and that is what programmers, GM's and Management of these stations that push an agenda and or political view don't get ...they don't get the medium/industry of radio, especially of late the political left. They need to be more savvy about radio, and worry less about their political ideology. Do that, and then they'd realize that they can spread their message and get heard.

AA tried to do it with Al Franken (he is awful, not his politics, but his show, so boring and he droned on)...Jeane Garafalo? Please...she thought she could just wing it, and she sounded unprepared and unfocused...not her politics, but her radio acumen was lousy...

When the powers of AA realize how to really do radio, they will have success because people crave that message, but not from those who deliver it so badly and boringly (not sure if that is a word!)

Speaking of so-called "lazy engineers"...I'll throw this quote nugget out there and see if anyone knows what or who I'm talking about:

"whaddya doin'?"

..anyone?

Nope. How about another clue?

An old KFBK engineer who was there in the late 80s and early 90s...and who didnt' have a problem sleeping on the work bench in the Engineering Dept...We took pictures! It was NOT Mark Stennett....Don't know what he's doing now, but he was a great Engie...

Mark Stennett was the finest engineer I've ever had the pleasure to work with. If something was broke, he'd fix it right away..no excuses. He also got along great with the jocks. There was a mutual respect.
