CHRISTMAS(AND HALLOWEEN) MUSIC 2022!

Other than Chr-Eve/24 , MJX should stick with Joe. It's only four hours, it's good show, and a fine break from the awful XMs playlist for the next 6 weeks.

Let's wait until after Thanksgiving to begin the Christmas music. And let's keep Joe Cortese's show on Saturdays during the holidays.

Agreed but in the big corporate offices they're relishing the idea of big profit$. "Hey there are other stations out there to listen to if you don't want Chri$tma$ shoved down your throats..including stations owned by us."

It may go to WMJX HD-2 with their regular AC format music through Christmas.

WMJX HD-2 plays Christmas music 24/7 year 'round, except during the season when the Christmas music switches to WMJX analog and HD-1, their usual AC format music moves to the HD2 for that duration, though jockless. Don't know if they would have the '80s show, with Joe, move to the HD2 until Christmas, but I recall that Joe's show was on a Boston area HD-2 subchannel only (of the former WBMX 104.1, now WWBX) for a period some years ago.
I'm pretty sure it was the WODS-HD2 channel that Joe's show stayed on after 103.3 became Amp. I don't know if it moves to the regular WMJX format on HD2 when they flip with Christmas or not.

I still like my idea of going in gradually
Nov 1-3 one song an hour
Nov 4-10 2 songs an hour
Nov 11-18 three songs an hour
Nov 19-23 four songs an hour
Midnight Nov 23-830am Nov 25th NO Christmas music then go full tilt

This is your idea as a programmer....or a listener?

This afternoon (November 18th) at 5 P.M., WMJX106.7 went all-Christmas.

It's actually late compared to stations in other cities, but then again, WMJX has been all alone in the all-Christmas format in Boston for several years.

If Boston had multiple all-Christmas stations, WMJX would flip much sooner than November 18th, hoping to either do it before a competitor did, or to do so not long (maybe within minutes) of a competitor doing so.

When we didn't have the preponderance of signals that we have today, that made sense for the only A/C in town. Now, one station in a cluster can be dedicated to all-Christmas.

I forget what MJX do with their SAT. night '80s show. Does that go on hiatus?

Looks like the Saturday night 1980's show is on hiatus.

It will likely return New Year's Eve (December 31st).

Could it be a special live New Year's Eve edition, running until 12:30 or 1 A.M. so a countdown to Midnight (and the arrival of 2023) can be included.

I'd wait until Black Friday then play four songs an hour for the rest of the month.
December 1-7 five songs an hour
December 8-14 six songs an hour
December 15-21 seven songs an hour
December 22-23 eight songs an hour
December 24-25 All Christmas Music

These were both tried over and over, and have proven to fail in a competitive environment. Why would you do it with the preponderance of evidence that it's not as effective as what these station do now.

That would make sense if yours was the only station in town, or the full-service A/C station and it was 1975.

I would like to see a station play more Christmas songs that are "off the beaten path," outside of Odepus's Christmas Eve show. That's just my preference, and I know it's probably well in a minority to what most listeners would like.
