Christmas Music?

Well I see Lowe's has their Christmas dept all set up with lit trees and decorations. Tomorrow is Oct 1. Any bets on how long before someone here starts playing Christmas music?

walmart and cracker barrell had their christmas stuff out..next to the halloween candy...on labor day here in gallatin..ought to be a law..nothing christmas til the monday after thanksgiving...but i will add there is a house on my daily route out in the sticks that has had a lit christmas on their front porch since last christmas..every day since last christmas..i see it..did i mention,.,every friggin day..!!!! where's the avatars when you REALLY need one ???

92.9 ALL CHRISTMAS 11/1. If they really get all that great ratings, why doesn't a station go ALL CHRISTMAS 24/7/365?

I would think Salem's Fish will go Christmas at some point too...

Matt

Maybe WRQQ should just go ahead and do it since they are getting worse everyday. Bad Company and Journey YEAH
The curse continues....sounds good for three weeks every ten years.

Maybe WRQQ could simucast christmas music with 106.7. I think the 3 listeners they had for ESPN radio was 3 more than they have now. What a waste of two signals. The only people I know that listen to 97.1 only listen for Bob & Tom.

I can't decide which is worse about Mix 92.9 going all-Christmas as early as November 1: the complaints from many regular listeners, or Rupert Holmes losing a great deal of royalties for two months!

Usually it's Thanksgiving that Mix goes All Christmas, so Rupert only suffers for a short period. But that alone
is the only real reason Mix should not flip. Good thinkin!

Yes, I have been counting the days when I could hear "Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives. ;) Maybe this season, one of the local TV stations will interview Amy Grant on how Amy and her family would put sugar cookies on a plate for ole Santa. :p

Is Channel 5 still using their Christmas image commercial from decades past? Spot contains cartoon character kids walking past toy store, and maybe a bakery, before climbing a snow covered hill to view a star? Music bed sounds like chimes or a popsicle truck.

I Love that spot! Gee, that Christmas spot was on when I was a tot! I'm glad Channel 5 has kept it all these years. It describes the true meaning of the holiday, without saying one word, just warm images. It remides me of Christmas times in the past with my parents and 2 sisters, all living in the same house. I look back now, and I miss those years.

The Channel 5 Christmas Image Promo was created by a member of the video tape department, Charlie DePriest. I worked with him while I was at Channel 5 in the 80's. He is a truly creative gentleman. He created this animation in the days before computer animation. Charlie has retired from Channel 5. I am happy to see Channel 5 continues to air it. It reminds me of the one CBS used to air during the 60's and 70's.

personally i like the Budweiser Clydesdale commercials, and the Santa that slides down the hill on the Norelco shaver head..just ain't Christmas without them..and lest we forget the usual Christmas special suspects..got to watch "It's A Wonderful Life,(just once) , the Christmas story BB thing..and a Christmas Carol... the one with Alistar Sim..just feel cheated during the holidays if i don't get to see this stuff.... ::)

Does anyone know what the song is in that commercial, the channel 5 one? My brother in law and I are in a race to find the answer. hehe

Thanks!
