Took a look at the Mix Facebook page, looks like a lot of the posts not likeing Christmas music are gone. Now I wonder why?

I politely voiced my disapproval on there just to find out that they too kicked me off their page. Makes me wonder if they're kicking everyone off that disapproved. I wasn't nearly as rude as many on there. Guess if you're the top dog, who cares about kicking off 10-50 people or so.

The first "Christmas" song that I heard yesterday afternoon was "Celebrate Me Home," which to me is not really a "Christmas" song, but I knew what it meant when I heard it. *groan*

Neither is "Another Auld Lang Syne," but they still play that to death...

True, that. I consider it more of a "winter" song than strictly a "Christmas" song, probably because it was originally a hit during the winter of my junior year of high school. It charted right into January and February, if memory serves. They didn't stop playing it that year just because "Christmas" was over! ::)

Another song that is considered a Christmas song is My Favorite Things. It has a few Winter references, but nothing that really about Christmas.

For that matter, what do Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland, etc. have to do with Christmas?

Do You all think 92.9 did some exhaustive research that indicated this is what the listener wanted? Never go against corporate consulted studies. Ok, I'm sorry I am totally out of line here. Now, let's all sing a rousing chorus of Tender Tennessee Christmas ;D

I love Christmas music but I do my best to stay away from it until about the second week of Dec.

Years ago when I worked retail we had people take days off just to get away from Christmas music.

The PD at Mix 929 said on the radio yesterday that she had tons of emails last week about people wanting to hear Christmas Music. So they decided to start last Friday.

That's interesting, given that Delilah was playing Chri$tma$ mu$ic over 92.9, while at the same time still playing non-Chri$tma$ mu$ic over Lite 98.7 in Hoptown. So Delilah must have separate Chri$tma$ and non-Chri$tma$ feeds, at least for now.

Chri$tma$ mu$ic shown during the Sunday 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. timeframe, so evidently, Jim Brickman has already changed over.

So apparently, at least among the syndicated broadcasters, only John Tesh has not changed over, yet.

Firepoint, or "Joel"....your negative comments are still there. So they may not be deleting all negative comments.

Delilah does have two feeds. She has one with all Christmas music and another that mixes in the Christmas music with her regular format.

Are You Guys posting negative comments on the Facebook Mix 92.9 page? And I thought I was being a trouble maker with my comments about Amy Grant and Tender tennessee Christmas" in this forum. LOL I did read some of the comments on FB 92.9. More comments seem to be favorable to the idea of Christmas music. I know the old Freeform rock stations might have played John and Yoko's So This is Christmas on Christmas eve, but other than Christmas eve that was pretty much the only time Christmas music was played. I might be wrong about that though. I know they did not start on October playing Burl Ives "Holly Jolly Christmas". ::) Anyway, I do like those Manheim Steamroller Christmas CDs. Those CDs do Christmas music tastefully! Anyway.....

Joel Harmon, was that You that posted on FB 92.9 that we need to go over the river and through the woods before we run over Grandma with the reindeer? LOL Funny stuff!

I like Christmas Music as much as anyone but when stations go to ALL Christmas Music a week or so before Thanksgiving, you're sick of Christmas music by Thanksgiving, especially when Mix 92.9 and 94 The Fish seem to play only the same handful of Christmas songs over and over again. Why can't they do it like they did when I was growing up, NO CHRISTMAS MUSIC until the day after Thanksgiving and then only a couple of songs an hour for about a week, then gradually add a few more Christmas songs each hour until about a week before Christmas, when you then go ALL Christmas up until the day after Christmas (or maybe even 6 PM on Christmas night). And I swear, if I hear that DAMN Hippopotamus song again this Holiday season,....LOL.

I agree, their playlist is extremely limited, and they start in with the Chri$tma$ tuneage MUCH too soon for my taste, both of which are factors in my tuning OUT stations that overdo it with the yuletide "cheer." I would like to go back to when stations gradually started playing Chri$tma$ mu$ic, like you suggested, instead of jumping in cold turkey with it, but the reason why they do so is $$$$. Like everything else in radio, all they care about it the almighty dollar.

I would also like to go back to when "black Friday" was just "the day after Thanksgiving," but that isn't likely to happen, either. ::)
