Christmas Music

Mix 92.9... My guess is the 16th.

Sounds a bit accurate, if what Kim hinted on the air yesterday was true - it was something along the lines of: "They don't tell us the date when they make the switch because they don't trust us with that info, but trust us, it's coming... It's just a couple of weeks until Thanksgiving..." That clue would steer a start date on or around the 16th.

Last year, Mix 92.9 flipped the switch on Christmas music at 3:00 p.m. on Friday November 18th. Two years ago, they began "teasing" Christmas music on or about the 21st, the Monday going into Thanksgiving week. They changed on Thanksgiving Day that year, I think.

I don't know when the Fish flipped over to Christmas moozak, but I believe it is usually about a week BEFORE Mix goes to all-Christmas moozak. But Mix usually gets all of the credit for being the all-Christmas moozak station by virtue of having a stronger signal. Never mind that they and the Fish play the SAME crappy Christmas moozak over and over and over and over and over and over again!

And Air Supply did indeed record a Christmas album or two, so look out!

I'm betting it's between 92.9 and the Fish for who starts first. Then the question is who goes all christmas first? Didn't somebody do all christmas the weekend of Thanksgiving since people were going christmas shopping, then pulled back on the volume for a week then dialed it back for a week then moved it up.
But the starting date points are well taken. Last year we had a shorter span from Thanksgiving to Christmas. This year the calendar gives more shopping dates yet if somebody pulls the trigger before Thanksgiving as some think they might...it really does seem to just wear the mood out. Too much of anything is too much

Advocating the playing of "pilgrim music" is nothing more than a joke. It is not necessarily a dig at Mix 92.9 or the Fish or anyone else playing Christmas moozak.

However, it would be cool if someone would play Adam Sandler's "Turkey song" (whatever it is called) a time or two before we go all-Christmas! 8)

So apparently Mix has a Christmas music "survey" on their website. B-squared was talking about it today. Says you can vote on which songs you like and which ones you don't, and - hold your breath - how early you want the Christmas music to start! Didn't they just give a clue on the air (see previous post in thread) that it would start as soon as this weekend?

This morning on 94 The Fish, Doug announced that the Fish wouldn't go All Christmas Music until the day after Thanksgiving. He stated the decision was made based on a listener's survey stated that let's at least celebrate Thanksgiving before we start hearing All-Christmas music for the next month or so.

94Fish is gonna do a "preview" on Saturday but not go 24/7 Christmas until Black Friday.
