Christmas

With the controversy in recent years (some radio stations banned it), I didn't expect to hear "Baby It's Cold Outside" but Worcester's WSRS played it about 9:15 this morning. No, I wasn't listening to the station. I was scanning the dial on my drive to work and heard the song playing so decided to stay with it. Dumped out of WSRS as soon as the song ended. Haven't heard much if anything about the controversy this year.

I don't play WMJX's Christmas music. They play the same 200-300 chestnuts every year. I want variety, and I get it from the internet.

On the other hand, 99% or more of the folks out there want very traditional "heritage" Christmas music that is linked to past years, family, friends and life.

Just as few people buy purple and yellow and orange Christmas trees, few want new and different Christmas songs. The whole season is based on traditions (and presents, of course).

Heck, some people still but Charlie Brown type Christmas trees too!😁

Out of market 105.1 is still playing Christmas music.
I'm really hoping you have no problem with this. Hallmark is still showing Christmas movies on its two TV channels, because, you see, Christmas has just begun. The "twelve days of Christmas" are actually the days between Christmas and 06 January, known as the Feast of The Epiphany. Now, I don't expect either 105.1 or Hallmark to go THAT far, there should really be no problem with going till 01 January.

105.1 switched back to regular programming at midnight.

They do a good job with Christmas music.

Looking forward to the next Christmas music thread in 10+ months.

WJMJ 88.9 Hartford continues with Christmas music until Epiphany, the full 12 days of Christmas, as is its tradition. It's not 24/7, though, as evenings on the station include three hours of classical music from the Beethoven Network.
