Chuck Harder

My understanding is that his organization was pretty much broke and his show was canceled about three years ago.
(I think it was down to shortwave and a handful of stations anyhow).

A far cry from the 90's when he rivaled Rush Limbaugh for station count, and had a very loyal following,
particularly in small, rural communities.

I think his story would make good material for a movie. Lots of weird stuff in there.
Like the rumors that he actually died in 2004 and a Chuck Harder impersonator carried on
with his radio show for a few more years.

It would probably turn out to be a bit like Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, that George Clooney flick
based on Chuck Barris' claim that he was a contract hit man for the CIA.

OMG! What a rant! If Chuck did not die in 2004 then his little choo-choo has certainly gone all the way
around the bend. Pine beetles? Propane refigerators? Methanol? Live on Mars? Fix and reuse IBM Selectric
typewriters?

I think back to what Chuck Harder was obsessed about in the late 80s/early 90s..the loss of the U.S manufacturing base, NAFTA, jobs going overseas etc. Pretty much all of his grim predictions have come to pass.

I used to enjoy the "For the People" theme song. I got a kick out of how happy and cheesey it sounded...it didn't match the tone of the shows content.

The closest thing I can find on the radio to Chuck Harder today is a show called "The Power Hour" with host Joyce Riley.

Chuck was a less polished Glenn Beck.

He also was severely hurt when his Y2K fears didn't play out and when GWB was elected.

Harder listeners appreciated all the bad karma heaped on Clinton, but many of the rural/small town areas where his show cleared would have nothing to do with tearing down or questioning Bush.

I think Chuck's show often raised some legitimate issues, NAFTA being prime among them.
Then there was the UFO and Black Helicopter and Project HAARP stuff, which could also
be entertaining.

All of it made more sense than that internet screed. I truly feel sorry for whoever wrote that.
If it was Chuck Harder he must be in really bad shape.

It could be the same Joyce Riley who used to be a frequent guest on Chuck's show.
She was a nurse in Vietnam and wrote a book claiming that we used experimental vaccines
on our troops which caused many of them to have serious health problems down the line.
