Chuck Taylor out at YJB? Bridge flip to Rock 100?

NY Yankee Pride said:
I'm personally happy to see another rock station in the Albany area, I was disappointed when Channel 103.1 & 104.9 The New Edge both abandoned the rock format last year. However, history shows that rock stations don't have a great history here in the Capital region. Both Pyx & 103.9 have been around for a long time but there have been many, many others that have failed over the years.

A lot of Rock stations have come and gone over the years in Albany, but the original three have lasted for many years....WQBK-103.9 since 1975, WPYX-106.5 since 1980, and WEQX since 1985. The irony here...This is actually 100.9's second attempt as a Rock station. It was Albany's second Rock station originally in late 1978/early 1979...100.9 as WWOM was in competition with WQBK...as an album rock station with a much tighter playlist than WQBK's progressive rock format at the time. The hourly ID was WWOM-Albany (New York's Best Rock) It was a decent sounding station too...during its short existence. Ownership flipped it to disco in the spring of 1979. By the summer of 1980....It began its long run as soft A/C, eventually changing calls in 1986 to WKLI...."K-Lite".....

I honestly doubt the WKLI calls will be dropped on 100.9... they've been on almost every format since K-Lite (including CHR/Top 40 "K100", Soft AC "Magic" and Variety "The Bridge"... WKLI was dropped briefly when they were "The Point"/WCPT and returned in 2002 when they became available again)

Pamal/ABC seems to prefer keeping heritage calls around, such as not changing WZMR after modern rock failed on that signal in 1999 and returning WKLI to 100.9 in 2002 ;)

To Mark, my comment wasn't a knock on Crush. But if you look at the numbers, the ratings were pretty decent at 4.4. Then you guys started to play more Top 40 music, which people don't want. Hence the drop in ratings.

Kind of hard to comment on 100.9 until they stop being a jukebox and start being a radio station. Not sure you can do anythingnew with that format. Big voice guy, liners that poke fun at themselves, predictable music.

Very original... didn't 94.5 The Bone use that same "Everything That Rocks" slogan in 2006? I've also heard it on WRIF 101 in Detroit, 93.3 WMMR in Philadelphia, and other stations around the country...

I like Laura however I tried to listen to her last week and I couldn't...it was bad...

It seemed like she has never run a board before...traffic playing while she was talking...beds wrong, phoners..it was such a mess...

Her topics were not great either...

I hope she gets a co-host of some kind...she needs someone to bounce things off of and run the show it seems

Maybe the days of teams are over and they want to see how she operates as a solo

I'd MUCH rather hear a team than one person. The rapport, the back and forth bickering makes for great radio! Solo? Not interested.
