Cincinnati/Dayton Radio Predictions 2012

Click has a few books left before they start changing things. Maybe, not the format, but music adjustments for sure.

I get what Rich is saying about the cluster, but I don't know if Hubbard thinks the same way. Rewind was set to go after Warm. It's working. Q is getting the best numbers it has seen in years. B105 is consistently performing at the top book after book. The majority of the women in Cincinnati are at Hubbard. All Rewind would have to do is cut back on some of the gold, and add more currents and they'd be a fresh AC. They're already playing more stuff from the 2000's as it is, and they have that "fresh" sound. They are now more AC than Adult Hits. It would not be smart to put another AC on 97.3... I'm not sure if they'd try rhythmic or not, but that'd be smarter because listeners will fight to listen to something other than The Wiz, listeners will not fight to listen to another station playing "feel good favorites" when you have Rewind, Warm, and even Q (which leans CHR). I don't know if I 100% agree with your statement about rhythmic CHR's not doing well. WDHT in Dayton is what is keeping Main Line happy. The #1 or #2 station in the city consistently 12+ and #1 18-34. They have to be in the top 5 25-54 as well. CHR period is at its prime right now. When was the last time WIZF has had some competition? Have they ever? That would probably make big news, easy. We can all agree whatever WYGY puts on there eventually will be women-friendly. AAA-Modern AC? Something closer to Click instead of what was on Frequency 94-1... that was a mess.
I think CLiCK is a good station. However, the repetition is horrendous("Little Lion Man" and "Someone Like You" anyone?). They have recently been going outside of their boundaries by spinning Kelly Clarkson and Colbie Caillat. I look for a lean towards Adult CHR to be a real possibility.
Also...CLiCK is doing what it's supposed to, and that's eat away at CC's WXEG. Let's not forget that before CLiCK signed on, 'XEG was doing low 5s. Now they're doing high 3s. CLiCK has taken some of their audience, no doubt about it.
Returning to Kiss Country would be a horrid move. If Cox would even get wind of it, KC would get stomped in the mud by K-99.1 FM. 8)

You can't look at 12+. After 3 full books WCLI is not doing much at all. WXEG currently has 7.5 Share with M18-49 compared to Click who has a 1.4 Share. Click had much better shares doing country!

I can believe that. I don't know many M18-49's who want to hear Adele squawking away like a Canada goose with a respiratory infection.

I know a male in that demo who chooses Click is their first choice. I think more females listen than male, which is the whole point right? The X has been affected. If they weren't, they would still be live and local right? :D

Not necessarily, the recent CC cuts were part of a nationwide RIF, and affected all of the smaller markets. It also affected several other staffers on Pine St.

Next question Radio Dude...when is WCLI-FM getting blown up? I'd be surprised if they'd do that, but stranger things have happened. For the record, here are my presets:
1-CLiCK 101.5
2-Q102/Cincinnati
3-Channel 99-9
4-Fly 92.9
5-WNCI 97.9/Columbus
6-Mix 107.7

@lovejaminoldies & @Alans613
The X is doing a 6.0 Share W18-34 compared to the 2.0 share on Click. I do like the music on Click but for whatever reason these MOR formats don't do that well in most markets accross the country. I like Smooth Jazz too and they don't do well either. I value your thoughts on the board but I wanted to let you know what is showing up in their numbers :) All I do know that Click had very good revenue as a Country format compared to now.

I believe Radio Dude. It won't be long before they try Adult CHR, and that'd be the smartest thing they could do.
Sad thing is that they once had Adult CHR with Z-93. From what I heard Z was doing well in the demos. CLiCK is a personal favorite, but it sounds like the writing is on the wall to try something else.
Radio Dude, since the Kiss Country numbers have come up so much, what were they doing demo-wise? 12+ they were doing similar numbers on KC at the end...and that's all I have to go on. I'm not surprised that CLiCK has only done a 2 or so. I also wonder how many people are streaming the station via TuneIn Radio or from the CLiCK app on their smartphones. CLiCK has a lot of repetition I've noticed. Between Adele and Mumford and Sons, there is some serious repetition that rivals some CHRs in the repetition department.
The stick is one of CLiCK's problems(A 6000 watt directional Class A isn't the greatest). I wonder how well KC would've done on 101.5. I'm surprised with all the ESPN stations across the country(With new move-in 97.9 in Connecticut taking on ESPN Radio on the FM)moving mostly to FM that WING-AM wasn't transplanted to the FM, similar to what WBNS-FM did with 97.1, when they flipped from Hot AC/Adult CHR to a simulcast of AM 1460 The Fan back on "Black Monday", Jan. 27, 2009. A lot of talented people were let go with that move. Funny that the first voice when they moved to 97.1 was that of fired OSU Football Head Coach Jim Tressel and a mock press conference during the flip. It was one of the worst flips I've ever heard. I have it on tape along with the end of Mix 97.1(Last song they played was Linkin Park's "Leave Out All The Rest", followed by a final bit of imaging and then a stopset, followed by the mock press conference).

Kiss Country's numbers came entirely from Springfield, Champaign and Clark County and it was largely dbecause they played K99.1's music and tried to be hyper local for Springfield. It would go down in flames on 101.5 trying to compete in the entire Dayton market.

THANK YOU BORDERBLASTER!!! I couldn't agree more. It doesn't matter how much KC made when they were on 101.7. That was then, and this is now, on an entirely different stick. The signal wasn't meant to penetrate outside of Clark County, seeing that WNKO was at the time licensed to Newark(Of course, now the signal has moved to New Albany and they were able to increase their power with 101.7 going dark in Urbana. For those that didn't know, the old WKSW/101.7 tower sat back off of Dallas Rd. right off of US Route 68, not too far outside the Clark/Champaign County line). Anyhow, had KC moved to 101.5, Cox would've spent them into the ground and ran them off the air. K-99.1 FM is an absolute powerhouse station with one of the best signals in the market. CLiCK's main problem is their 6000 watt Class A directional signal. I think the station sounds good minus a few songs they run into the ground that I mentioned earlier in this thread. We'll see what happens.

I hate to be a realist...I really do. But (for what its worth) I CAN dream.

With Rick Muzzy purchasing WPTW amid rumors of starting up an FM translator..it may be the very thing to bring the Piqua station back around.

Muzzy owns a cluster in central Wisconsin as we already know. It would also make sense for Muzzy to eventually pick up and purchase 94.5 Lite FM,keep Kim Faris on the air as it's cheif air personality, retain the current format and air high school sports in the evenings..Northwestern,Vandalia Butler,Tippecanoe,Milton Union,Covington,Troy and Piqua come to mind. But would CC drop the price for Muzzy to buy??? As a realist, probably not....though it's just a mere 3,600 watts it may be the FM Muzzy needs to form a mini-cluster. I'm also thinking Hits 105.5 possibly (or eventually) being a clustermate for Muzzy..I'm guessing here that Ida Miller (Dean's widow) now in her advancing age may want to consider a sale to Muzzy somewhere down the road.

Has anyone ever been privy to what CC wants for the combo? Have a feeling it might be above what Rick Muzzy could pay. WMVR could be more realistic, if the remaining family wants to cash out. Dean Miller did look at WPTW when Cox was in the process of spinning it off

This station in Richmond got quite a downgrade so WIZF in Cincinnati could move from 100.9 to 101.1 and so 100.3 can move into Cincy as well. Then the signal got hurt more with Click coming to Dayton on 101.5.
