Cincinnati Radio Dial, June 1978

Whose Jack Reno? Are you saying it was launched before 6 AM that Monday? I woke up a little late that day after hearing Big Girls Don't Cry at about 2 AM. I remember Jim Scott playing a country remake of some oldie.

Not sure of the lineup they had but I believe Ted Ted McAllister signed off the Top 40 format and the country format began at at 6AM. Jack Reno was either mornings or evenings at the Country formatted 1360 WSAI.

Jack Reno had an illness and was gone from local radio from maybe late 1978 to late 1979, his single Vevay, Indiana was released in 1979, and at that time he was not working in radio. He did not join WSAI until sometime in 1981 or 82. The early WSAI country staff included Jonathan Fricke as program director, some of the jocks were John Marks, Joe Stamper, Diane Palmer, Debbie Connor, Dale Turner, and Patty Spitler.

Dusty on 'SAI in 1978:

You'll have to scroll up from that url. That will take you to the Mark Sebastian aircheck with highlights of when he allegedly put a frog in a blender. Here is the direct URL http://www.reelradio.com/rc/index.html#drwsai082178

McAllister's claim to fame at the end of WSAI was his talk up of Evelyn "Champagne" King' "Shame" when he said "It's not a shame, it's a g*ddamn disgrace".
