Cincinnati Radio Legend comes to K-Love

WGRR (don't say oldies) Program Director, Peter Z, is leaving the Infinity owned (don't say)"Oldies" station and transferring to the struggling KLUV.

Peter has single handedly kept the Cincinnati station competitive and will no doubt succeeed in preventing Dallas listeners from the fate of New York and Chicago's Oldies, (oops, I said it) listeners.

With RC out, Peter is coming to the rescue. Hide them Cowboy cheerleaders.

Sounds like that move will spell the end of the Dallas Cowboys broadcasts on KLUV...and quite possibly, a sad goodbye to Jay Cresswell. Which, by the way, is a HUGE loss for the Fitzhugh cluster! Anyone care to take a bet where Jay will wind up (if he decides to leave) in a very short timeframe?

Maybe they should bring this new Peter in to fix the KVIL mess too! So far, the other "peters" haven't been very effective, including the biggest DICK himself, KJ!

If Infinity and/or Fitzhugh looses Jay it will come back to bite them in the ass.

Cresswell has been running KLUV and doing Brinkman's job for years. He also did and does stuff for KVIL. Helped start JACK-FM (don't give Kurt the credit).

To bypass Jay is a big mistake. They will just use him and say see ya.

This was in the works when they made Brinkman resign. So I guess that MR CINN is an ass kisser too! He should fit right in at Fitzhugh.

Re: Cincinnati Radio Legend comes to KLUV

Not giving Jay Cresswell the job he EARNED & DESERVED & has been doing ANYway for MANY years...............is the BIGGEST PIECE OF B.S. I've EVER seen happen at KLUV! What a slap in the face to a GREAT person who has done nothing but his very BEST. If they lose him, I feel sorry for everyone who is employed there. He should have been PD (legally), a LONG time ago! Just my 3 cents worth.

I agree totally. Even though Cresswell would never say anything bad about Brinkman because Chuck has been his mentor for all these years, he also KNOWS that all Brinkman has done is walk through his airshift for three hours a day and do as many appearances as possible instead of letting the jocks make that extra money. If Cresswell is kicked out, and they let someone like Kurt Johnson stick around, (and promote him yet!!) then Infinity is a MUCH sadder bunch of idiots than ANYONE at CC. After Chapman is gone, it appears that KLUV management is going to give Sunny every chance in the book to get things right and climb out of their hole. And with KVIL ranking right there with Sunny, Gene, Julie, and Jody better pull out all the stops or it's going to be embarrassing for a lot of people. As far as KJ is concerned, he just got promoted and his precious Jack has already peaked and is heading south. Now THAT makes sense.

I agree, Dallas is NO Cinn, Ohio! This guy will change everything and lose! The new morning show will be a bust! The news guy can't be Chappman! Watch them blow out Brinkman in afternoons next! It fits right in with Infinity. Just blow it up, who cares! Jay deserves the position!

The frustration is warranted. Too many decision makers in"corp run"radio disregard the local audience already, now they disregard the local employees who helped their corporation. Cresswell was over looked without any regard to his dedication and loyality in building KLUV. The "Cincy" guy will most likely rubber stamp his corporate masters idea of a format with no knowledge of what works in this market. If the plan was to by pass Cresswell, then they should have at least looked at the local talent available who can be a PD. It's not "Cincy's fault"but (and there will be flack for this)he could have declined. Infinity blew it,andnone too surprisingly considering WCBS-FM's fate. What is with "Cincy"talent anyways? First a new weather guy is coming in ,and most likely bumping Greg or Steve from being Chief Meterologist at WFAA,now KLUV goes out of town to hire. Jay deserved the promotion and Infinity was too stupid to bestow it. A side note to Infinity and Belo. Look what happened to KZPS when they hired from "out of town"..Hello???

ease up boys & girls

I agree with 'abcdj'. The Cincy guy seems to have a great rep and if they think he's best for the job (no disrespect to Jay), he does deserve the shot.

BTW, you can always tell the "sour grapes crowd" when they're on a rant. The key phrases are: 'corporate run radio', 'corporate masters', 'the suits',
'the consultants', 'no idea what works in this market', stuff like that.

Those are among the dead giveaway phrases and really do instantly paint your crowd as the cynical, skeptical, couldn't-cut-it-so-I'm-pissed radio hacks.

It's so blatant it's not funny (and is really quite sad).

Geez, it seems the out of work board ops and "personalities in their own minds" are restless. I agree with Oldies Cat and ABCDJ. Does anyone really think K-LUV needs that much fixing? My take, add about 150 songs and start looking for the best PM Drive show you can find when the need arises. And the backlash Infinity is getting in NYC and Chicago for blowing up 2 heritage stations will keep them cautious at least in the near term (see this morning's "Radio Ink" news page for some impassioned comment).

I've said it before when I posted under another handle and I'll say it again, it's my opinion that the DFW board is the least civil in the entire Radio-Info.Com universe. Let's focus on radio and not character defamation.
