Cindy...Cindy...Cindy. I have myself a new cjazz crush!!! ;D All I can say about this one is, "Instant classic." I added EVERY single cut on the CD, EVERY one. Even thought about adding the prelude and interludes, and I might yet combine the 4 of them for a special "Unscripted" Medley. Move over Chris Botti. Move over Rick Braun. Love you guys, but there is a new sheriff in town as far as trumpeters go, and HER name is Cindy Bradley. The dirty trumpet, the flugelhorn, Cindy does it all to perfection here. Diversity in tempo and tons of vibe. Very few CDs have moved me quite like this one in 25 years of listening to this music. She's beautiful, and she has SICK skills. Really liked her debut, but it doesn't come close to this one, IMO.
BTW, while I am at it, the latest shipment from Trippin' n Rhythm was nothing short of spectacular. Kudos to Jeff Lunt and the gang. One of the nicest and hardest working guys in the business. Solid efforts from DTTB, Bob Baldwin, and Nick Colionne. Hard to fathom that Paul Hardcastle was the weak sister of the bunch. A couple decent cuts from Hardcastle VI, but nothing that really blew me away. I like Paul, but I think Mr. Smooth has given him a little too much consulting advice over the years. Here's hoping he rediscovers his vibe.
