Cindy Skull and Robert Miguel ???Fired?? P&K takeover???

Cindy is a cool chick but comedy is not her forte. Robert is not funny either and is best suited for employment outside of radio. Cindy will land on her feet elsewhere.

But to replace them with P&K is not in the interest of anyone, quite frankly.

In the interim, it may be best to play all music in that slot.

Same here. Especially with HD radio on the rise, satellite radio is becoming less and less of an option.

HD isn't on the rise. In fact it's all but dead now. Have you not been following the reports that HD radios are "in the back room" or virtually non-existant at all in the appliance stores?

John, I missed that show. In what capacity was she attending - as fan or...?

If AM's at The Bone weren't so detrimental to careers, I'd like to see Tasha Stevens give it a go. As it is, she's better than and deserves more than that.

Methinks some folks get jealous of her talent.

I think it will be cool, It wont be a "music" show.. Probably 2 or 3 songs an hour..in and out of commercials.. wont make much refrence to it in any of the banter.

This seems good for all parties involved.

Right..... As the Worker "Drones" get up and travel to their dead-end jobs.... they need to be "amused and entertained", instead of inspired and up lifted by great Rock Music....

Yeah.... That's The Ticket !!!

Must be a Govt. Conspiracy...., as they do this to workers all over the country.....

Instead of Music in the Mornings..... America is fed up hot and tatsy garbage to start their patheitic work day with...... How Wonderful and Fullfilling it must be to be a prt of that creative force!!

(Sarcasm Intended...)

There is one person that is being forgotten in all of this turnover from the Cindy and Robert show and that is their producer Blake. I thought that Blake was the only refreshing part of it including his impersonations of George Bush and George H.W. Bush, Owen Wilson, Gay college Intern Lance Ruby, and the greatness of fake Avery Johnson. The KEG Boy Bit was awesome too when he went into the 24 hour fitness in a Keg suit and then crashed Good Morning Texas. I wonder what will happen to him down the road because he is not that old and seems to be a potential show co-host in the near future with his quick wit humor.....quite frankly the only one on the show that knew what was going on in the world....let me know what you think about him????

That raises the question of what is great rock music? I can guarantee my definition differs from yours. Some people believe KISS is a great rock band. I believe they are hacks. How about hair bands? Or grunge? 80's synth? 60's psychodelia?

No matter what genre of rock you decide to program you're going to end up with the same problem that has plague radio for the last 30 years: the same 3 songs from the same 20 bands on an endless, unchanging playlist that repeats every few hours until the crack of doom. I would rather listen to talk that is unique every day rather than the same tired songs over and over. It gets my mind started in the morning.

(Disdain intended...)

I think they should definitely hire P&K. What station doesn't want an hour of American Idol chat, an hour of America's next top model chat, an hour of a girl with numerous plastic surgery procedures talking down about how superficial the Dallas hip crowd is, and an hour of a guy whining about what he can and can't eat? Sounds like a winner to me.

Stern made a fortune with doody jokes and throwing bologna at strippers. What's your point?

Well, that's where I thoroughly disagree Albert19X....

A "Great" Rock radio station, imo, and others opinions, would not play the same 3 songs from the same 20 bands on an endless, unchanging playlist that repeats every few hours until the crack of doom...... regardless of the slant of the station.... A Great Rock radio station, that is not "Hit" oriented, would instead, play the other "great" music by all of these bands, and other great music by other bands not already being played.

The difference is, many White Zombie songs are great Hard Rock songs.... But Rob Zombie songs, are more eclectic, and I would not even try to play them. White Zombie is good enough.

I think I can steer away from enough fo the the commercial hits --- of any genre, to delve into what would by satisfying to Rock Music fans. I'm not trying to please everybody. Who does ? ? ?

KLBJ-FM was able to do what I'm talking about very nicely in the early-mid 70's.

You just have the discernment to not play "Walk This Way", even though it was charting...............

If your attitude is that "if it charts....it must be worthy for airplay", then you're on the other side of the issue.

I know what I'm talking about !

I know when something is pop-c-r-a-p, ie, Three Doors Down.... or is not.

Remember when FM came out as an alternative to pop hit music ? ? ?

That music like Three Doors Down is considered "quality" rock by some astounds me.

It's just commerical c-r-a-p.... easily forgotten tomorrow.....

The last time I was impressed and taken with "Pop" music, it was 1964, and a band from Liverpool, The Beatles, were all over the charts. THAT was worthy pop music.

Three Doors Down.... is pompus. I want real rock music. Not forumulated tripe for tweens and teens.....

:)

Rover,

Then buy an Ipod and custom build your own station.

The definition of "great rock" varies from one person to the next.

I think very little of radio's success has to do with the music. Sure, appealing to the masses is the way to attract an audience. But what about KEEPING them and building loyal listenership? That starts with being entertaining, being accessable, and interacting with your audience. That stuff is GONE nowadays. Most jocks are too stuck up to acknowledge anyone except themselves, plus they just barrel through their liner cards so they can surf the 'net until the next break comes up. All of this great technology has made jocks LAZY and you can tell. It's also easy to pick out who loves their job and who doesn't.
Now that Sirius & XM have merged, radio needs to step it up!! And I like that! Competition means better radio... or at least it SHOULD.

TheRover, you're coming at this from an idealist perspective. Sure, if I were in charge of the station I'd program the greatest selection of music the industry has ever seen. There'd be the perfect mix of deep cuts and hits, eclectic shifts in styles, and even a healthy dose of cross-genre sampling. It would be my dream of a radio station. It would also, as DnDash237 suggests, mimic my Ipod.

But I don't get to make those decisions. I have to listen to what the corporate weasels that do own the station think is great radio, and that is 3 songs each from 20 bands. Even worse, it will probably feature the type of testosterone rock that the Discovery Channel is fond of using for theme songs. So given the choice of a lifestyle talk program like P&K or the theme from Monster Garage I'm going to pick P&K, or my Ipod.

Dude.... the "Ipod" suggestion, gets no traction here.

I know about "personal" playlists, I make them on CD....

But.......... I still want Great FM Rock radio in Dallas-Ft.Worth.

The Problem is... our Corporate Masters, won't allow it.

The Classic Rock/Hits Machine is all they know.

Hear No Greatness... See No Greatness.....

That's their Motto ..

Exactly. He lost my listenership when he praised Zombies of either the Rob or White variety, whereas my radio station would proudly play The Zombies.

92.5 going more "Classic Rock"

97.1 HD2 is "Classic Rock"

93.3 "Classic Rock", or whatever they are???

100.3 ... Playing whatever they want.... from "Classic Rock" Playlists

Really.... isn't this overkill of one genre... in one market ? ? ?

ALBUM ROCK -- YES !

Corporate Rock Commerical Hits -- NO

Bland Pablum Formula Rock --- NO, Thanks ! !

You Listen to Walk This Way and Love In An Elevator for the 1,000,000 time . . .

And you're satisfied......You say .... "I've just heard 'Greatness'".

I change the station, because, I know what I've just hear, and instead,

I look for "Rats In The Cellar" and "Nobody's Fault" .....

That is satisfying.

If you have "ears" to hear.....

You can't hold a decent conversation with people that are actually satisfied with pablum.... ???

Don't know about you, but I can.

Times have changed...this ain't the early 70's. Dallas can't support a "commercial" AAA....much less a "deep, cool, groovy AOR". I got better service at Western Auto in 1976, but I have to go to Wal Mart now for most things. Times change. Get over it.
